How Air Bathtubs Work And The Joys Of Owning One
Posted: Oct 31, 2014
Most people should have no problem imagining what it would be like to sit inside of an air bathtub. Some people compare the feeling to lying inside of a tub filled with champagne.
When compared to the traditional bathtub, most people would agree that an air bathtub is a breath of fresh air. Before deciding whether or not to buy one, it’s useful to understand how an air tub works.
A Look inside the Tub
Most air tubs use something called a blower. It’s best to think of the blower as a huge hair dryer. The blower sucks in air from outside of the tub, and it heats the air by about 30 degrees Fahrenheit.
Once the blower has heated the air, it blows it into the bathtub. The whole process can be compared to blowing into a bowl of soda with a straw.
The air causes the soda to produce a massive amount of tiny bubbles. Some of the bubbles created are larger than others. There is a big difference between whirlpool and air bathtubs. An air tub produces bubbles like a whirlpool tub, but the massage effect provided by the bubbles is much gentler.
However, most air tubs come with a controller, which enables the user to control the intensity of the bubbles. Some people just want a light simmer of bubbles while others prefer a full boil.
The Benefits of an Air Bathtub
There is a lot of misinformation surrounding air bathtubs. Unlike a whirlpool tub, an air tub doesn’t actually need water to create the relaxing bubbles, so an air tub doesn’t need a separate water line.
A whirlpool tub requires the installation of a separate water line. One of the greatest benefits of owning an air bathtub is the fact that bath oils and salts can be used inside of it.
Unlike a whirlpool tub, an air tub doesn’t recirculate water, so there is no worrying about bath salts clogging up the lines. The jets in an air bathtub are unaffected by bath oils and salts. Another major advantage of an air bathtub is the price.
When compared with products that perform similar functions, an air tub is significantly less expensive but provides comparable benefits. The maintenance required for an air tub is also far less than what is required for similar products. A bathtub is the most important aspect of any bathroom.
It can work for or against the other features of the room. It’s not nearly as relaxing to sit inside of a traditional bathtub because there are no massaging, fizzing bubbles to enjoy. After considering the price, most homeowners have no problem paying to have an air bathtub installed.
