Ingrown hairs are unwelcome by everyone, and as a matter of fact, these are actually little bumps that show up on the skin because of a number of reasons. And most of all, ingrown hairs are primarily observed in the most uncomfortable places.

However, with a good skincare routine and a few treatment methods, you can get rid of them.

Here, I'll be discussing a few ways to get rid of ingrown hairs. But before jumping to that, let's learn about ingrown hairs a bit more.

Well, ingrown hairs are formed and are most likely to occur when a hair follicle grows back after shaving. These usually have sharp tips and curl up when fully grown. Because of the pointed tip, a bump is formed. Again, though, these bumps can be seen in clusters, and sometimes as simple as well.

These sharp tips are most likely ingrown and are mostly observed after hair removal practices like - waxing, shaving, or after using hair removal tweezers. Though, it is said that these hairs are most susceptible to the ones with thick hairs, though everyone has it.

In order to prevent the occurrence of ingrown hairs, you should wet your skin with lukewarm water; it'll help to soften your hair. Also, it would be best if you always used a lubricating cream/gel while shaving. And if you use the razor in the direction of the hair growth, it'll be good because it helps prevent the development of ingrown hairs.

Now, let's have a look at the methods to get rid of ingrown hairs.

First, you should be sure that the bump that has just shown itself is ingrown hair. You can ensure it by checking the hair under the skin; if you see that, then it is for sure an ingrown hair.

Another thing you should check to ensure ingrown hair is to confirm the bump's location. Also, if it is painful and has been there for more than a month, then it is definitely ingrown here.

You can use an ingrown hair removal tool or given methods to get rid of them.

1. Exfoliate Often

Exfoliation often can really help in avoiding ingrown hairs. You should exfoliate your skin at least once a week. Regular exfoliation will prevent the build-up of dead skin cells on the skin, hence lowering the probabilities of getting ingrown hairs.

The market is flooded with X number of exfoliation products, so try using an exfoliation cream or scrub that leaves your skin smooth, skin-friendly to your skin type, and has zero side effects.

You can also take help and advice from your friends or your dermatologist.

2. Consider Hair Removal Creams

As mentioned earlier, shaving is one of the most common reasons for ingrown hairs, so try shifting your hair removal method and adapting to using hair removal creams.

These creams are the easiest and most convenient method to remove hairs, and moreover, they are painless and only take a few minutes for the process.

3. Use The Best Blade

However, if you only prefer or like shaving, it is best to use a high-quality blade.

A good quality blade will not harm your skin and will give you satisfying results.

4. Don't Forget Shaving Cream

Another way to avoid ingrown hairs is always using shaving cream when using a razor.

Shaving cream will ensure the shaving process to be done smoothly and all the hairs come out. Also, it will make the process easy, and it will smoothen and lubricate your hair.

5. Never Skip The Post-Shave Treatment

If you have done shaving, you should never forget/skip the post-shave treatment because it is really very necessary to follow it to keep your skin smooth and avoid ingrown hairs.

Post-shave treatment includes nourishing and moisturizing your skin with quality products.
