Most Common LG Refrigerator Problems

Are you experiencing LG fridge freezer problems? Is your fridge freezing your lettuce? Melting ice cream or making strange noises? Are you trying to determine the cause to fix it on your own? When it's temperature issue, noise issue, the ice or water dispenser is not working Here are some typical refrigerator components that could cause the LG refrigerator to malfunction.

Temperature

The temperature of the fridge and freezer must be in the ideal range, or food may get spoiled. The problem with cooling may be caused by the temperature settings that need to be adjusted such as the temperature control thermostat condenser coils or evaporator fan motors, starting relays, starter capacitors or thermistor temperature control board, or the the main controller board. Or even the linear compressor.

LG Fridge Noise Problems

Does your refrigerator sound a hum, bang, or rattle, keeping you awake during the midnight? The unusual or loud noises in your fridge may be signalling possible issues. Grinding, rattling, or squealing sounds may be the result of fans blades evaporator, compressor motor, condenser fan motor or an inlet valve for water. The sound of thumps, bangs or whistles usually indicate problems with compressors.

Water dispenser

Are your water dispensers dripping incessantly? The water is sputtering or not flowing in any way? The water dispenser might have a frozen or leaky water tube, damaged intake valve for water or control board for dispenser or low pressure. Certain issues could be related with the maker of ice or dispenser as well.

LG Freezer Problems

The freezer is a part that of the fridge, and therefore problems with noise and temperature are interconnected. However, if your unit isn't defrostingproperly, it could be because of the control board for defrost, or the thermostat, sensor or fuse, timer for defrost or heating assembly or even the central control board.

A malfunctioning ice maker may be caused by the temperature of the freezer, an inlet valve for water, a filter pressure of water supply the icemaker's module door or icemaker switches the control board for ice level and so on. A thermostat for the icemaker mould.

Ice Dispenser

The ice maker is connected with the dispenser of water as well as the an ice maker. Therefore, if it experiences issues, they could be connected. The cause could be control switch or board, the auger motor or actuator for the dispenser, the solenoid motor for the door of the dispenser or ice bucket auger or the blades of the ice crusher.

LG Fridge Troubleshooting Suggestions

Once you've found the problem it is time to attempt and determine the root cause to determine if you are able to repair it yourself or if you require the help of a professional who is able to solve it. Some issues are easy, while other issues require specific skills, training tools, or parts. Always consult the manual to determine the location of the component and maintenance or repair tips too.

Temperature

The most frequent LG refrigerator repair is temperature problems. Make sure the settings are correct and adjust them if they are too high or low. Inspect the condenser coils to find dirt and dust, and clear them using a vacuum.

Condenser and evaporator fan are free of obstructions and can freely spin. If one of them isn't spinning quickly or is noisy it is time to replace the motor. Verify the continuity of each motor using the aid of a multimeter. If no connection is found, then replace the motor in question.

A start relay can be yet another frequent issue. Verify the continuity between the run and start terminals using the aid of a multimeter. Change the relay for the start if there's no continuity or an unpleasant smell.

The thermostat that controls temperature regulates the condenser fan and evaporator motors and compressor. Change the thermostat from the highest setting to the lowest setting, or reverse the order. If it clicks, then it's good. If it's not clicking take a look with a multimeter to determine if there is continuity, and then replace the device if there's none.

Other frequently encountered LG problems with refrigerators are the start capacitator, which gives start-up power to the compressor, as well as the thermistor, which monitors the temperature within the freezer and fridge. If either fails, the compressor typically will not begin. Make sure to test both with a multimeter, and then replace them if they are defective.

Linear compressors are a frequent cause which can be checked with the aid of a multimeter. If it's damaged or leaks repairs should be done by a certified technician.

A temperature controller is rarely the cause, however you should test with a multimeter in case other components fail to test. If the board is damaged then replace it. Similar to the control panel that is used for main purposes.

LG Fridge Noise Problems

If your fridge is noisy The most likely reason is due to a fan blade. Verify that the evaporator as well as condenser fans are spinning freely. If they aren't spinning easily or make a sound Replace the motor that is damaged.

The motor of the evaporator fan is another frequent LG refrigerator repair. If it's loud and even more so when the door of the refrigerator is open, it needs to be replaced. If the noise doesn't get louder when the door is opened then check the condenser fan motor. Replace it, if required.

Thumping, gurgling, banging or whistling sounds typically result from a failed compressor. The only LG authorized technician is required to replace the compressor.

The valve for water inlet typically produces a sound when filling the ice maker. If it's more loud than normal it could be caused by mineral deposits. It's best to replace it and not cleaned.

Water Dispenser

If the water does not dispense then disconnect the water pipe at the one end and attempt blowing it. If there is no air passing through, it's plugged with the ice. Make sure the freezer is temperature between 0degF and 10degF.

The valve for water inlet is a different issue that is frequently encountered. Examine the continuity and replace it if damaged. Additionally, the valve needs an air flow of 20psi in order for operation, which is why the pressure of water is crucial.

A water filter that has become blocked could also affect water flow needs to be replaced every six months.

The door switch stops the flow of water or ice while the doors are closed. Make sure it is in good working order and replace it when needed.

Dispenser switches regulate various functions of this dispenser's mechanism. If one of the components fails Test it with the aid of a multimeter and then replace it if there's no continuity. If the entire system fails then it's a malfunctioning controller for the dispenser.

LG Freezer Problems

Issues with icemakers and defrost are freezer-related issues. If the defrost sensor isn't working you should test the control board, the defrost heater, and thermostat for defrost using the multimeter. Another option is to test the defrost thermostat with a fuse, then test for continuity.

The thermostat for defrost is a different problem. It is responsible for monitoring the evaporator coil temperature and regulates the defrost process. If everything is working make sure you examine the main control board.

Ice Dispenser

Examine each switch in the dispenser for continuity in the event that the ice maker isn't functioning. Examine the actuator of the dispenser. If damaged, replace it. Make sure the motor of the auger spins and check it using an instrument. Also, make sure whether the motor for the dispenser's door is getting energy. If not, change it.

The solenoid of the dispenser will open and close to close the door. If the solenoid is defective then replace it. If all tests are positive, then check and replace the control board.
