In general, the headlights of modern cars are looking much brighter, so if anyone bulb has burned out, then the one is providing enough light, so you are unable to determine anyone burned out bulb easily. So, inspect the bulbs of the headlights at a regular interval.
Blown fuse
Among the several electrical problems in the car, nonfunctional headlights are the most common ones. So, when the headlights are non-functional, the first thing you have to inspect is the fuse. For checking it efficiently, you have to go through your owner's manual for checking the low beam headlights.
While checking the low beam headlights, find the fuses, remove them, and inspect them properly. If the fuse is burned out entirely, then replace it with a new functional fuse of the same amperage.
Damaged relay
In a Volvo, the switch of the headlights is sending a little bit of energy to a relay and the relay is completing the circuit to turn on the headlights. If the relay is damaged for any reason, then it may receive electricity from the switch, but is unable to complete the circuit of the headlights to turn it on.
At this point, you have to replace the relay of the car for again functioning headlights. Moreover, the headlights have a separate relay for high beams and low beams. If any of the relays is damaged, the other one is still working efficiently.
Cracks in bulb housing
Like the other reasons behind the failed headlights, the cracked bulb housing also burns out the bulbs of the headlights. In this case, you have to put a new bulb in the headlights within a day or two. When you are installing them, use a rubber glove because the sweat from the hand will burn the bulbs again because it contains salt.
