Coronary angiography the test is used to find out if there is any blockage in the coronary artery, it is an imaging test that uses x-ray to view the blood vessels the X-rays provided by angiography are called as angiograms. This test is usually done to study narrow, blocked, malformed or enlarged arteries or the veins in the heart.

What happens in Coronary angiography:-

In coronary angiography the doctor will inject a liquid I through the thin flexible tube called as catheter, the doctor will treat the catheter into the desired hartree from the access point the access point is generally the arm but it can also be your groin. What to expect:-

Before the procedure:- Before the angiography procedure start total health checkup will be done including past medical history allergies and the medications you take, some vital examinations like blood pressure and pulse is also checked.

During the procedure:- During the procedure and IV line is inserted into the vein of your arm, electrodes will be placed on the chest to monitor the process. Complications:-

Coronary angiography are usually very safe but here are some of the complications -

  • Being allergic to contrast die this is uncommon but you should always discuss your cardiologist about any allergy before having the procedure.
  • Bleeding can be there under this skin where the catheter are is inserted- this bleeding usually stops after a few days but you should contact your cardiologist if you're concerned about it.
Other than these complications you are more likely to develop complications based on
  • Age factor
  • Any other history of serious heart disease
  • Any kidney disease
  • If there is one or more blocked coronary arteries

  • It checks the blood flow through the heart and the blood vessels
