Canada – To explore newer horizons for Indian entrepreneurs
Posted: Dec 21, 2021
Since its inception in 2015, Canada Start-up Visa program has been one of quirkiest ways Indians have used to relocate to Canada leading to citizenship there. This has been a big attraction for Indian entrepreneurs as it provides permanent residence in Canada apart from exposure to the newer growth markets.
This program which started in 2015 as a three-year pilot project got its permanent independent identification in the year 2018. Post lock-down, this program has again started to gain more traction from the entrepreneurs with global perspectives. It was rolled out by the Canadian government with an intention to attract the right talent into the country. The prospectus was to increase the business operations there.
One of the biggest advantages of the program is to that the successful applicants can relocate to Canada in complete along with their immediate families; with all of the family members being able to enjoy all benefits similar to a Permanent resident. Through this program, the successful immigrants can then pursue Canadian citizenship within 4 to 5 years of relocating to Canada. The program doesn’t require the applicants to prove their educational qualification nor provide any kind of certificates to qualify for the program.
This program does not require the Indian entrepreneurs to prove their net-worth either. However, Canada start-up Visa requirements include that the applicants provide a proper start-up business plan. This start-up should be scalable. One of the main purposes behind the Canada Start-up visa is to generate job opportunities for the local Canadians.
To qualify for this program, the applicants should have been running a qualifying business and should have obtained a "Letter of Support" from business houses/designated organizations recognized for the job by the IRCC (Immigration, refugees and citizenship, Canada). It would be up to these organizations to qualify a business idea or a business. Each of the application will have its own time line to get reviewed since it could completely be based on the nature of the business, its operations and its location. Once the Letter of Support is obtained, the applicants can then proceed with the Visa Processing.
