Hospitality Consultancy services in India is one area which still lacks good & professional Hospitality Consultants. Hospitality consultants in India are mostly seasoned individuals from the industry who have migrated to Hospitality consultancy Job and are operating as individual Hospitality consultants. There’s still a dearth of good Hospitality Management Services Company who can provide a complete & holistic hospitality solutions to this segment.

The role of Hospitality Consultants in India has grown leap & bounds. This fact is clearly visible from the Increase in the number of Hotel Consultants available in the market in compare to the fact that there were only few Hotel Consultants in 80’s.

The Role of Hospitality Consultants in India in 1980’ was very limited as there were only few companies foraying into the field of Hospitality. These companies were run by Hotel Professional themselves & hence they were the one suggesting & deciding what will work for their property & what not.

But with the influx of Real state and builders entering into the Hospitality market, role of Hospitality Consultants & Hotel consultants has increased manifolds. The reason is very simple; these investors are not from hospitality sector & hence lack technical knowhow. This is where Hospitality consultancy Services are required.

Hospitality consultants in India now play a major role in deciding & doing feasibility of the project, developing the concept, planning & hiring all other associated consultants such as Architect, Interior & MEP. Most of the Hospitality consultants in India still prefer to do kitchen planning & kitchen designing themselves.

To put the job role of a consultant in a synopsis in the modern term is: "The job of a consultant is to hold the hand of an investor, advise them and tell them exactly what will work for them & what not" Ironically, fact also lies that investors do want to hear the same from Hotel Consultants what they want to hear otherwise there is a possibility of losing business for that Hospitality consultancy services company.

"In the end the customer is right, if you tell a customer that he is wrong in his thought and that your thoughts are the best, it can put them off and make the deal fall through," says a Hospitality Consultant.

There are also claims by a top Hotel consultant in India that most of the Hospitality consulting companies are not even hospitality driven since most of them are actually real estate development consultants and that they lack the necessary know how to advice on a hotel property. This could be one of the major reasons for most of the projects not able to take off well.

"After the first year 27% of restaurant startups failed; after three years, 50% of those restaurants were no longer in business; and after five years 60% had gone south. It was reported by Dr. H.G. Parsa, Ohio State University. His research is titled "Why Restaurants Fail?" was published in the Cornell Quarterly (2005).At the end of 10 years, 70% of the restaurants that had opened for business a decade before had failed." One of the major reasons cited for this failure was mis-leading advises provided by un-professional and incompetent Hospitality Consultants.

The above statement clearly shows the importance of hiring & the important role played by Hospitality Consultants in providing Hospitality Management Services in India.
