PTFE also referred as polytetrafluorethylene, is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene. It is a fluorocarbon solid and can be defined as a high-molecular-weight compound that comprises of carbon and fluorine. It is also hydrophobic, which means water and water-containing substances cannot wet it. This is also one of the reasons why many wires and cables are formed with this material.

Why PTFE is Used for Insulation Cables?

PTFE, provides superior insulation in high and low temperatures (-260 to +260°C). It gives insulation even in hazardous conditions as it is inert to chemicals and acids.

Properties of PTFE Cables

Some of the main properties of the PTFE cables are following:

Non-Flammability : PTFE is known to have minimum coefficient of friction against any hard object. The cables formed from this material are (flame) proof that is these are suited to be used in areas or conditions that are exposed to fire.

Flexibility : PTFE cables are made from stranded copper wires. The copper material lends a lot of flexibility to the cables and thus, these can be fitted easily with needed twirls.

Weather Resistance : The insulation does not show any changes in their electrical, mechanical and chemical properties when installed outdoors. The cables are also not affected by the ultraviolet rays.

Space Saving : These cables are manufactured to have small diameter and so these take less space. These also have very smooth surface.

Compliance : These wires are also RoHS compliant and halogen free.

Application of PTFE Cables

The cables made from this material are used in areas such as aeronautics, automotive, space, telecommunications, computers, electronics, military equipment, general industry, railways, medical, aerospace research, lead cells & pressure transducers, high performance electrical machines, furnace & oven wiring, high temperature exchanges, heat sensing leads, lifts, refrigeration equipment etc. There application is also used in electronic equipment such as aircraft, marine, radar etc.

Various manufacturers in Mumbai, Maharashtra have been engaged in manufacturing durable PTFE Cables to cater to the needs of the consumers. The cables that have uniform thickness around the central conductor can also be procured easily at competitive prices. The various PTFE Cables Manufacturers also provide cable wires to the consumers. The PTFE insulated Cable are known for their thermal stability and high surface resistance.

The various PFTE products that can be purchased are Hook-up Wires, RR Co-Axial Cables, Tri-Axial Cables, Multi Core Twisted Cables, Twisted & Shielded Cables, Twisted Shielded & PTFE /PVC Jacketed Cables, Double Shielded Cables, Multi Pair Cables, Twin Parallel Balloon Wire, Sleeves, PTFE Tape and PTFE Hoses.
