A prefabricated building is a type of dwelling that is manufactured off-site in standard portions later shipped and assembled at the final location. The main features of these buildings are that they can be put together pretty quickly without the troubles of site-built construction.

Not only are they lower in costs, but also offer better flexibility in design. They can also be moved from one place to another, if necessary. They are made of mixed materials such as concrete, fiberglass, wood, steel, aluminum, so as to offer durability and security. Whether it is a single small room or a huge sprawling factory, a prefabricated building is easy to go for.

These buildings include both modular structures and mobile trailers. They can be put together within an already constructed building. In some cases, they can also be assembled on a non-concrete base. Needless to say these kinds of buildings have been found very beneficial for disaster-struck areas, where instant temporary structures should be erected for provisions and shelter. Even those areas that are vulnerable to earthquakes prefer to have these prefabricated and UHPC buildings, as they are lighter in weight and lesser in cost. And if for some reason a building is necessary for only a very short span, then it is feasible to go for a prefabricated structure. Many structures, such as military establishments, hobby areas, dairy amenities, storage buildings, parking booths, ticket booths observation towers, sports arenas, smoking shelters, equipment enclosures, toll booths, gate houses, guard booths, fast food joints, retail outlets, office space, apartments, and schools are often made using a prefabricated technology.

Prefabricated buildings can be assembled pretty quickly, sometimes within hours. They come with different amenities, including doors, windows, shelves, electrical wiring, bulletproof windows and climate control systems. Most of the manufacturers offer years of warranty against wind loads, leakage and structural damage. They can also be made in multiple stories. One can choose the columns, frames and wall panels, windows, doors, ceiling and flooring. Moreover, they are available in different color schemes.

However, there are drawbacks of prefabricated and FRP buildings. They have a tendency to depreciate pretty quickly than the site-built homes as they are not quite popular yet. Moreover, the feel and look of the prefabricated buildings doesn’t provide the versatility of a building constructed on site utilizing traditional techniques.

Most of the prefabricated buildings are sold by dealers, but some manufacturers sell them directly. No matter from wherever you purchase, check the reputation of the manufacturer, contact with references and ask them about their experience. It is best to take quotes from multiple suppliers before finalizing your order.

A detailed set of steel building kits are available in the market at reasonable rates. While choosing prefabricated wooden buildings, you should choose wood that is long-lasting. Look for ideal ventilations in the building.
