BIS Updates On Standard Amendment For Poultry Feeds

As we all know Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is responsible to take care of the quality of products available in the Indian market. BIS used to update several standard amendments from time to time to ensure the improvement of the quality of the products considering the aspects of human health and wellness. In this aspect, BIS has made several updates for existing license holders/ new applicants/manufacturers/ importers/ product sellers for the product "Poultry Feed" valid for the Indian market. These steps are taken to improve the nutrition value for the Poultry Feeds so that birds can produce more nutrition in the form of eggs and meat.

BIS Updates On Standard Amendment for Poultry Feeds

BIS published the first standard regarding Poultry Feeds and changing Raw Material Conditions in the Year 1959 followed by several updates in the years 1964, 1968, 1979, and 1981 respectively. As a result of all these updates, the weight of Boilers has increased gradually from 1.5 kg in eight weeks to 2.0 kg in 4 weeks. Also, the hen's eggs increased from 260 eggs in 1965 to 320 eggs in 2004. The increase in the production level has made the BIS publish the Fifth Revision of the Standard.

Standard Amendments, 2021

On 26th November 2021 BIS made new changes in the Standard for Existing License Holders/Manufacturers and 25th February 2022 is the date till which the standards without amendment shall remain in force. The concerned people can download the amendment copy following the steps mentioned below.
