In recent years this world has witnessed many anti-social activities like terrorist attacks, political riots, etc. To ensure safety from those attacks, body armor plays a major role. Body armors are the most common safety equipment which provides additional protection from vulnerable situations.

Where Body Armors are widely used?

The use of body armor differs in many places depending on the threat. It is important for the user to understand each, in order to have the correct armor.

Ballistic Protection:

The most common type of body armor is bulletproof, which provides you with ballistic protection. It is resistant to bullets of various guns depending on the level of the armor. Ballistic Hard Armor is popular among military specialists, law enforcement personnel, and special forces.

The range of ballistic hard armors is most trusted, lightweight, and provides solutions for safety with high standards of reliability and durability.

Edged Blade protection:

This is also known as stab protection, which can protect you against attacks involving weapons like knives. This stab vest is designed to offer protection against edged blade attacks. The material used in the manufacture of this body armor is Kevlar. Kevlar is more strong and light synthetic material. Edged blade protection armors are used by the securities to protect themselves against stab attacks.

Spike Protection:

Spike protection can stop attacks using spiked weapons like needles, nails, or screwdrivers. It needs many layers of plastic laminate to create a tough surface that can stop these weapons. These types of body armor are used by prison security, due to the high chance of spike attacks in prison. It is also useful in prison riots. Fully protected guards with this armor can enter the cell blocks easily and stop the riot with more confidence.

Materials used for Body Armor:

Kevlar, Steel, and Polyethylene are the most used materials in the manufacturing of body armors. Kevlar and Polyethylene are used in the making of soft body armors, while steel is used in making hard body armors.

Kevlar is the most used material in armor for protection. Because of its resistance impact, low weight, and high strength. Kevlar fibers are so tightly bound together, that is impossible to separate them. When a bullet comes with high velocity the fibers catch the bullet, it absorbs and dissipates its energy. Also, Kevlar can withstand extreme temperatures.

Steel body armors are thin and cheap, but they are heavyweight material. Steel can take multiple bullet hits without destroying the armor. Moreover, steel armors absorb energy from the bullets. So, if you get shot you will be safe, but you will feel the impact of the bullet.

Polyethylene called Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) is the lightest body armor among the above ones. These kinds of armors will not react to any chemicals. It can stop multiple bullets stacking in the same place without any cracking. These materials are more in cost when compared with other types.

Conclusion

Choosing a material for your body armor, you must pay attention to its weight, thickness, cost and mainly consider your safety. Our life is precious so, choose wisely in selecting the right armor.
