The Countries and Their Preferred

  • Belgium - Belgians love their Bancontact cards. In fact, there are more of these plastic payment devices in circulation than the population itself! Customers use a card or app linked to your bank account for online payments that is guaranteed and confirmed immediately- how could you not want one?

    The customer is redirected from your site or app to Bancontact's website where they must authorise payment. Once approved, there’s immediate notice if success or failure with paying for goods/services rendered.

They can use SOFORT and Giropay which are two popular ways among German residents; SOFORT by Klarna also enables e-banking along with secure transfers through an account that's valid within Austria or Belgium.

  • Italy - The Italian people love to shop online. They're more likely than any other nationality on earth, with 80% of them transacting in the digital world and considering e-wallets or prepaid cards for their convenience.

  • The Netherlands - iDEAL is the most popular online payment method in Netherlands with a share close to 55%. All major Dutch banks operate this scheme, making it easy for customers who want an alternative way of paying through their bank credentials.

  • Poland - The majority of Poland's 38 million people rely on online banking and cash-on delivery as their primary means for making purchases or receiving funds.

  • Portugal - The most popular payment method in Portugal is MultiBanco, which has been steadily increasing over the years to represent around 85% of total sales.

  • United Kingdom - The United Kingdom has a reputation for being at the forefront when it comes to mobile shopping and debit cards. People in this country tend not only use 2-3 card accounts, but also pay with them online. This makes up 90% of all transactions made online.
