Installing an air conditioning system in your flat is a lengthy process. First of all, you need to get permission from several authorities involved in the process. So, if you are renting the flat, you need to ask your owner for approval. And, those who own the flat should talk to the apartment building owner. You must also see if you need to apply for planning permission. Next, you should check if you have enough space in your house? You should also research which AC unit would be ideal for your flat. Should you go with the ceiling cassette unit or opt for ducted systems. The last step is to check the costs- whether the ceiling or duct AC price is in your budget.

When you get your AC delivered to your flat, it is time for the actual installation. Here are the main steps to the air conditioning installation process-

What are the main steps involved in installing an AC?

Installing the indoor unit:

After getting the unit home, you have to contact the experts to install it. They will unbox your air conditioning unit and fix it on the wall you agreed upon. First, the brackets will be fixed to the wall; then, the unit will be slid after being secured. Before installation, the engineers will also drill a hole to feed the pipes outside.

2. Fit the electric wiring:

Once the hole is drilled, the installers will work with electric wiring and piping. For this, they will need to lift the unit away from the wall using brackets or clips. When they have completed the wiring and piping, these will be secured together using electrical tape. Then, all the wires will be passed through the hole in the wall. Later, the pipes will be fitted in the back of the indoor unit and fixed on the wall.

3. Install the condenser unit:

The next step is to fit the outdoor unit. If you live in a flat, the best place to install it would be the ground floor; however, you can place it on the balcony if you live on any other floors. Then, the outside unit will be installed on a stable, and the surface will be levelled. The experts might also add rubber cushions to prevent vibrations. They will again check the wiring and connect the indoor unit to the outdoor unit afterwards. Lastly, the power supply will be linked with the outlet.

4. Testing the units:

To ensure that all is perfect and working well with the AC, the experts will conduct a series of tests on both the indoor and outdoor units.

5. Fix piping on the walls:

You don’t want to ruin the look of your flat because of the pipes and wires hanging from the AC unit. Thus, the installers will fix them on the wall using clamps. For making the piping less noticeable, you can ask for more options. Lastly, the hole will be sealed to prevent insects and air from getting in.

So, these are a few steps that need to be followed when installing an air conditioning unit in your flat.
