Rich in nutrients and easy to eat both as a spreadable cream and as a sauce, nut butter can be a simple solution for school lunches, snacks, and more.

And their growing popularity seems to be equal only to the number of varieties available. Gone are the days when peanut butter was the only choice for those who wanted a gummy cream rich in nuts. Today it is just as easy to find delicious butter made from almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, or walnuts in the school canteen or pantry.

But be careful: Natural nut butter generally offers the same benefits as nuts they contain, for example, protein?? And healthy fats, some may contain excess amounts of sugar or saturated fat.

As an alternative to white sugar (sucrose), we can use other sweeteners, especially of natural origin, some more known than others: while sugar is refined and does not provide any nutrients other than calories, almost all the products on this list have extra properties that make them somehow a better option. These are considered healthy sugar substitute.

People who regularly eat nuts or nut butter have a lower risk of heart disease or type 2 diabetes than those who don't include them in their diet. Some nuts, such as walnuts, are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are heart-healthy fats and could play a role in lowering triglycerides, a type of fat found in the blood.

Nuts, and by extension, nut butter; also contain protein, fibre, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, offering several health benefits.

The advantages

Walnut butter contains several important nutrients, including:

  • Protein• Healthy fats• Fiber• Vitamins and minerals• Phytochemicals

After knowing all these benefits you must purchase nut butter more than before.

It is important to store walnut butter in the refrigerator once opened, because, like nuts, they can go rancid, which can make them taste unpleasant but not necessarily dangerous. Commercial peanut butter may include preservatives to extend shelf life – from six months to two years when closed and two to three months open – but refrigeration can extend their shelf life even further. But it is more important to refrigerate natural walnut butter, which contains fewer preservatives.
