Getting ready for a summer road trip

We decided last summer to do something new and different on our vacation and ended up doing an awesome road trip through our home country, visiting the friends´ summer cottages and going to all kinds of events and festivals. At several points we took accommodation in some nice bed and breakfast places and enjoyed the countryside and nature around. It was very nice experience and I would do it again anytime.

The preparing for the trip of course required some efforts. Summer road trip needs a working car which doesn’t break down while you are on the road. Obviously there are some places by the roads where you could take your car in such occasion but these days for example gas stations are not much help as they sell more coffee than repair services. So we took our car to mechanical and he repaired some minor malfunctions, such as one back light and a small error on breaks. Also, we needed new summer tyres as the old ones were already quite worn out. Our mechanical advised on buying the new ones and we got very good ones with proper grip on wet roads, as the summer can sometimes be quite rainy in this corner of the world.

On the day we were setting out for our summer adventure we packed the car and god it was very full of different things. I still did some last minute pruning but it didn´t do much help. For a family of four there all kinds of stuff you can need while on the road. And of course all the camping gear had to be with us as well, just in case. Before we headed to the highway we did still check on tyre pressure, as we were advised, since this could actually save us money in the gas bill.

All in all we were on the road almost a month and visited the most northern places of our country as well. We met lot of friends on their summer cottages, but also some strangers and made new friends. In my opinion the north was best, but the kids of course preferred all kinds of amusement parks and zoos and other places of entertainment. We all did enjoy the couple of times we were camping in middle of nature and the swimming in forest lakes. But we were all also very happy to get back home as well.
