If you are like me then holidays can sometimes be slightly disappointing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love holidays but for special days like my birthday or Mother’s Day they can be a little blah. This is because I always assume my kids will be angels for the whole day, my husband will want to give me a never ending foot rub and my house will magically clean itself.

I’ve slowly learned that life still keeps on moving on those once a year days so I need to do a little more for myself! So this Mother’s Day I plan on pampering myself and with these 5 easy but satisfying ideas, I think you should too.

  1. Enjoy time alone

This is probably the number one thing moms want on Mother’s Day! Not because we don’t love our children that allow us to be celebrated on this special day but because motherhood is hard and sometimes we need a break. So take a few minutes outside in the sun to be by yourself or grab a drink and read a book at the coffee shop. You’ll feel recharged and excited to come back to your loving circus.

  1. Get a mani/pedi

Treat yourself by getting your nails done! Don’t worry about smudging your nails while trying to clean up after a little one by making a date with the nail salon. Let someone else pamper you for a few minutes while you get a fun new nail color.

  1. Go to the park

You’ll feel refreshed once you get outside in the fresh air and sunshine. You can walk the trails or act like a kid on the playground–it’s your day, you do you! Make it a family affair and let the kiddos get their energy out as well for hopefully a little more calm back at home.

  1. Try something new

As a mom you often have to eat what everyone else wants for dinner or do what will make the majority happy, but Mother’s day is a celebration of your hard work so pamper yourself by doing something new. Try that new Thai restaurant your kids didn’t want to go to or become a barista with a new coffee order.

  1. Celebrate with other moms

What better way to feel like a new woman than by hanging with your girlfriends! Make reservations for a brunch with mimosas or go for a walk together or spoil each other with a fun gift. Empower yourself by showing these meaningful women in your life what a great job they are doing raising their kids and doing the best they can in life.

Whether you are a mom to little ones or your babies are having babies, you deserve to feel loved, appreciated and pampered on Mother’s Day! So enjoy the sweet gifts and surprises your family showers you with but also remember to take time for yourself on this special day.
