Once petroleum products are recovered in the upstream sector, they move into the midstream sector of the petrochemical industry.

What is Midstream? Midstream as the name suggests sits right between the exploration and refining sections of the petrochemical industry. The midstream sector focuses on the transportation and storage of natural gas and crude oils through various oil channels, pipelines, and oil tankers, etc. It is a hub connecting the various stages of the oilfield industry, allowing oil, natural gas, and produced water to travel from the wellhead to its final destination, and in between. This sector involves extensive installation of pipelines, transmission lines, and machinery, which signifies the requirement of long service life and reliability. To meet these standards, efficient chemicals are crucial to make midstream processes as efficient and smooth as possible. Regardless of the mode of transportation, the vast medium infrastructure is primarily constructed from structural steel, and they are prone to corrosion. The challenges posed are many.

Midstream chemicals address the major challenges to the industry in the handling, transport and storage of petroleum products. Limescale gets deposited on the pipeline due to high concentrations of sulphur, iron sulphide, rust, and organic solids, which left untreated will result in damaging operating equipment and potentially disrupting the chain.

Chemtex Midstream portfolio covers a wide range of innovative and high-performing chemicals divided into pipeline chemicals and crude tank farms:

Crude line corrosion inhibitor – It effectively neutralizes the corrosive effects of sour gases such as carbon dioxide, and hydrogen sulphide that come out with crude oil.

Hydrotesting Corrosion Inhibitor – It provides excellent protection from corrosion in interior metal surfaces, pipelines, boilers, and other industrial equipment.

Wax Inhibitor – Wax deposition on Pipes is the main reason for high flow line pressure drops. Our formulation helps to reduce wax deposition, increasing the downstream facilities of refineries, crude oil pipelines and other surface equipment.

Pipeline Cleaning – Chemtex Pipeline Cleaning Chemicals are able to remove the large volume of unwanted materials that get deposited when fluids are transported.

Our Midstream Chemicals also find application in crude tank farms as

Dewatering agent that ensures improved filter water quality and achieves optimum solid capture.

Crude Tank Cleaning additives are used in midstream to ensure maximum recovery of crude hydrocarbons from storage tanks, which are otherwise prone to sludge deposition.

Chemtex Midstream chemicals ensure

  • Complete protection to metal surfaces from highly corrosive agents during crude oil extraction, increasing performance and longevity
  • Significant reduction in maintenance cost and time
  • Assured monetary benefits for owners and stakeholders
  • Enhance the life of the assets with preventive maintenance
  • Reduced wastage
