We always want to choose the best option for everything even if it’s the

gasoline for your vehicle. Afterall, not all types of gases are the same or equal.

If you have been using the same type of gasoline for a while then you might be interested in switching it or you might be wondering about buying a new vehicle with a different grade of gasoline. If you are wondering this then you must first learn about the types of gasoline so you can choose the right gas for your car.

Gasoline, also spelled as gasolene, is a derivative product of crude oil, derived during fractional distillation process and has a translucent liquid form (as it is not used in crude form). It is used as fuel for internal-combustion engines, solvent for oils and fats etc.

People usually wonder if gasoline and petroleum are one and the same thing or not. Then to clarify you, they basically are the same products - just with different names. In the US and Latin countries, the term gasoline is used, but in Europe and Asian countries it's called petrol. Here are the main types of gasoline station service/ petroleum storage: Regular Gas - 87 Octane

One of the types of gasoline is the typical go-to-option, called as Regular gas - composed of 87 octane, with an average of 85 to 88. This type of gasoline is what many car manufacturers recommend to make your car run efficiently although it may not offer the best performance components higher octane gasoline options offer. This type of gasoline is the least expensive and can help you achieve your goal without impacting your pockets. Mid-Grade or Plus Gas - 89 Octane

Second type of gasoline is Mid-Grade or Plus 89 octane Gas which helps the vehicles that are designed to run on a higher octane gasoline. This octane level offers higher performance than the 87 octane, but doesn’t go as far as the 92 octane. Premium Gas - 92 Octane

Yet another type of gasoline is Premium Gas -92 octane which are specifically used for high performance vehicles with engines that have high compression ratios or turbochargers

If you compare premium gas and regular gas, know that less than 20 percent of new cars require premium gas. In addition to sport or luxury vehicles being a few types of cars that perform better on premium gas, there are regular style cars that require this type as well, including the Fiat 500L and the Buick Regal.
