Energy consumption can climb, much like the midday temperature. However, there are several simple and efficient strategies for lowering your air conditioning expenditure and maintaining a comfortable home environment during the summer. Using these ideas can help you keep calm when the bills start coming in.

Set temperature at 24 °C.

If you live in a city like Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, or Bengaluru, where the average day temperature is between 34 and 38°C, set your air conditioner to 10 degrees lower. Furthermore, our body temperature ranges between 36 and 37 degrees. So any area that is cooler than that is naturally cool for us. We now know that every degree lower on the air conditioner results in a 6% increase in electricity use. So instead of decreasing it to 18°C, try maintaining it to about 23-24°C. You will quickly realize that your home is cool even at this temperature.

Sealed rooms and shut-off devices

When it comes to a split air conditioner, closing the door seems like a no-brainer. However, ensure that all of your windows are tightly closed. Cold air does not escape the room. Pull the curtains closed to prevent the sun's heat from entering your room and increase the strain on your air conditioner.

Refrigerators, televisions, and computers generate a lot of heat and make your air conditioner work harder. Before turning on the air conditioner, switch them off. Allow the room to cool before turning them back on. Rearrange the furniture so that it does not block the air vents while you're at it.

Alternate switch on and off ac

Have you ever woken up to a shiver and needed to switch off the air conditioning? That's most likely due to the window air conditioner working all night to keep your room incredibly cool. Switching it off at night is one way to save energy while remaining comfortable. You won't need it all that much at night, especially if you're running it throughout the day.

Try this tip if you spend a lot of time in an air-conditioned room. You can turn it on for a couple of hours, then turn it off for another one or two. The space remains appropriately cool while conserving a significant amount of electricity.

Reduced Energy Consumption with a Fan and an Air Conditioner

When the air conditioner is operating, keep the ceiling fan turned on. They work together to keep the room aired and cool air circulating in all corners. You will not need to lower the temperature repeatedly.

Start by turning on the fan and moving out the hot air in your room before turning on the AC for efficient cooling with minimal energy use.

Regular maintenance and cleaning save electricity.

All of the dust builds in the ducts and vents of the AC forcing it to work harder to ensure that cold air enters your room. Replacing filthy filters with new ones can reduce an air conditioner's energy consumption by 5-15%! Furthermore, it prevents the item from breaking down or needing repair.

These tips will help you save electricity bills whether you have a split air conditioner or window air conditioner.
