Kedarnath Yatra is one of the many holy pilgrimages in India. Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located 3583 feet above sea level in the northern state of Uttarakhand. Kedarnath is a part of the Panch Kedar and Char Dhams. It is the only leg of the pilgrimage that begins in a distant region near high peaks. Every year, millions of pilgrims come to Kedarnath Dham via Delhi, Which is well-connected to major towns and cities in Uttarakhand. From Delhi, you can go to Kedarnath via train, road, or air. In this article, I'll give you the best way to reach Kedarnath from Delhi.

  • By road: The vital starting point for the road route to Kedarnath is Rishikesh/ Haridwar. During the pilgrim season of the summer months, buses transport pilgrims from New Delhi to Kedarnath via Haridwar and Rishikesh. Gaurikund, located near the National Highway 109, is the closest place to Kedarnath Temple. The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation operates a direct bus service from Delhi to Gaurikund. The Inter-state buses also pass around Gaurikund, connecting the area to Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Rishikesh, Haryana, Dehradun, Srinagar, and Pauri. Early in the morning, pilgrims could easily locate regular buses to Gaurikund. So, if you want to go there, you must first go to Rishikesh or Haridwar and then take a bus or taxi to Kedarnath.
  • By train: Kedarnath does not have a railway station. Rishikesh is the nearest railway station, located approximately 210 kilometers from Gaurikund. Rishikesh railway station is well connected to practically all major towns in India and has daily trains. Taxis and buses are available from the rail station to Gaurikund. There is a 16-kilometer hike from Gauri Kund to Kedarnath, which can be completed on a pony, on foot, or by helicopter.
  • By flight: You can take a one-hour flight from Delhi to Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, around 239 kilometers from Kedarnath. When you arrive, you can hire a cab, take a taxi, or board a bus from Dehradun to Rishikesh to begin your journey to Kedarnath. Delhi is the nearest international airport. The Uttarakhand government also provides Heli charter services. You must reserve ahead of time and board the charter from either Phata or Guptkashi that will take you directly to Kedarnath.
