Because the country has so many employment openings, candidates in the skills streams particularly have a lot of options.

The PR visa for Australia is valid for five years. With a PR visa, you and your family can move to Australia. After four years in Australia on an Australia PR visa, you can also seek for citizenship.

Australian PR Visa sub-categories

An Indian national can apply for an Australia PR visa under one of the following visa categories, depending on their profile:

  • Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

This five-year permanent resident visa in Australia can be converted to citizenship after serving the minimum time period and meeting other requirements.

  • Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)

This visa is for skilled professionals who have been nominated by an Australian state or territory. It's vital that you show that you work in one of the Skilled Occupation List jobs. You can apply for any sector within the selected state or area.

  • Skilled Regional Visa (Subclass 491)

This initiative was developed to address the scarcity of skilled workers in Australia's rural and regional areas. You should be able to meet the skill requirements and obtain sponsorship or nomination from your state or territory. This visa will allow you to stay in the country for four years.

What are the eligibility criteria to apply for an Australia PR from India?

  • Age: The candidate must be under 45 years of age at the time of application.
  • Skills Assessment: Candidates must have their abilities appraised by immigration authorities before planning to immigrate to Australia.
  • 65-point score calculator: Under Australia's PR Points Grid, the candidate must score a minimum of 65 points.
  • SOL: Having a skill listed on the Skilled Occupation List is a must for any application.
  • Language proficiency: Candidates must demonstrate at least a competent level of English proficiency.
  • Character assessment: It is necessary to present character certifications stating that you have no criminal history.
  • Health assessment: Health assessment paperwork is necessary to certify that you are fit to serve your country.

What is the process to apply for an Australian PR?

Step 1: Check eligibility

Regardless of the visa category you choose, your occupation must be listed on the Australia Skilled Occupation List. To be eligible for an Australian PR Visa.

  • To apply, your occupation must be on the Skilled Occupation List
  • You must be under 45 years old
  • Have at least 65 points in the point grid depending on your age, education, work experience, and other characteristics.

Step 2: Apply for Skill Assessment

Regardless of the visa category you choose, your occupation must be listed on the Skilled Occupation List to be eligible for an Australian PR Visa. The Skilled Occupation List must include the occupation you are applying for.

Step 3: Apply through the point-based system

Age, education, English test score, work experience, and determination to stay are all factors in the selection process according to which points are assigned. It takes 8-10 weeks to complete this process and would roughly cost $2815. (INR 2,07,203 approx.)

Step 4: Register your Expression of Interest (EOI) on Skill Select

This is the most crucial step in your Australian public relations journey. Under Australia's Skill Select portal, you must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). This is your way of expressing to the Australian government that you want to apply for a permanent residency visa in Australia.

Step 5: Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

You can now relax and await your invitation to apply (ITA). An ITA is issued to the applicants with the highest EOI ranking. You are only one step away from receiving your PR Visa after receiving an ITA.

Step 6: Submit your PR application

Once you receive your ITA, the final step is to submit a complete Australia PR visa application within 60 days.

Step 7: Submit Health and Character certificates

The final step shall be to submit necessary medical certificate and police clearance certificates in order to complete the Australia PR process.
