What Is an Epc Rating and How Can It Be Improved?
Posted: Jun 20, 2022
An Energy Production Certificate is good for ten years and indicates whether electricity saving is a home's performance. It is key to buying, selling, or renting a property since it gives you information about:
- Energy bills
- Carbon emissions
Even if you're not moving, it's worth taking a look at your home's EPC to find out what you can do to reduce your energy bills and carbon emissions. Be sure to issue a new EPC after making improvements to your home. The EPC of each property is available on the official site.
What is the EPC classification?Your EPC will have two major panels, each with its ranking. The categories are numbered from A to G, with A being the highest-ranking and G being the lowest. The numbers in each rating reflect the government's Standard Rating Procedure and range from 1 to 100 SAP points. These scores are divided into volumes as follows:
- EPC Grade A = 92-100 SAP points (most efficient)
- EPC grade B = SAP score of 81-91
- EPC grade C = 69-80 SAP points
- EPC grade D = 55-68 SAP points
- EPC grade E = 39-54 SAP score
- EPC rating F = 21-38 SAP points
- EPC G-Score = 1-20 SAP points (least efficient)
In most cases, the age and construction of your home are factors that limit your EPC score. The type and age of the house are also included in the assumptions that the EPC evaluator must make, and the total square footage is used to find out how much fuel is used per square meter.
