What is OINP?

Ontario nominates foreign workers, international students, and entrepreneurs under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.

What are the steps to apply?

There are 4 steps to apply in the OINP-

1. Confirming your qualifications- The individual after choosing the right stream for themselves, must meet all the requirements before submitting their application in either Express Entry Pool or Expression of Interest.

2. Creating a profile- The candidate must create a profile in order to be ranked with a point scoring system.

2.1 For Express Entry Stream- submit a profile online through IRCC.

2.2 For Entrepreneur Stream- register for an expression of interest via email.

2.3 For all other streams- register an Expression of Interest for the chosen stream.

3. Applying to be nominated by OINP- The candidate upon receiving either a Notification of Interest (NOI) or an Invitation to Apply (ITA) must apply online through the OINP e-Filing

Express Entry candidates are allotted a time period of 45 days to apply online.

International Students and candidates under Employer Job Offer Stream have 14 days to apply online.

4. Applying for Permanent Residence- Once the application is approved, the individual is eligible to apply for PR with the IRCC. The final decision of the approval of an applicant’s PR is taken by the Canadian Government.

Applicants with a valid job offer from an Ontario Employer can apply for immigration through this program. There are certain requirements that are to be met both by the employer and the employee.
