Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions. Our senior loved ones are mostly affected by this dreadful disease. Treatment can help but this disease can’t be completely cured. So, we should educate ourselves about this disease and help our loved ones with Alzheimer's with their needs.

Today, I am going to focus on how to understand the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. The progression of this disease is divided into five stages. Let us have a close look at all the stages:-

Preclinical Stage:

In this stage, the brain will develop signs of Alzheimer's but without any noticeable symptoms. This stage can last for many years and an MRI scan of the brain is the only way to find out whether your senior loved ones are in this stage of the disease.

Early or Mild Cognitive Impairment Stage:

Your senior loved ones can lead a normal life in this stage of Alzheimer’s disease. They can work, drive and make decisions but you will notice mild cognitive impairment such as misplacing items, forgetting names, trouble remembering recent events, and facing difficulties with planning and organizing. It has to be kept in mind that these symptoms always do not occur due to Alzheimer’s, but they can be a warning sign.

Middle-stage or Mild Dementia:

A doctor can diagnose if your loved one is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease in this stage as forgetfulness becomes more prominent. Your loved ones will become frustrated as they will not be able to recall any recent events, names of people or the right words that they want to use and will get perplexed about dates and their whereabouts. You will also notice some changes in the moods and behavior of your beloved seniors as Alzheimer's progress. Your senior loved ones may need assistance to perform their daily chores. To make your senior loved ones feel relaxed you can avail of caregiving service from an Elder Care Service in Kolkata. Your senior loved ones may forget about their phone number, address, or where they attended school or college, They may develop aggressive physical behavior in this stage. You can also avail rehab assistance services from

Late Stage or Severe Dementia:

Your loved ones will need a round- the clock caregiver to attend to them in this severe stage of dementia. They will lose control over their bladder and will be unable to maintain personal hygiene. They will be unable to hold any meaningful conversation and you will find it difficult to understand what they are saying. Your beloved seniors may be unable to walk or hold up their heads without support.

However, you can make your loved ones feel better by spending some time with them, talking with them about recent events, showing them pictures of family members, watching a movie, or listening to music with them.
