Fastener is a hardware device that is use to join two or more objects together such as wood, plastic, sheet metal, etc. Fasteners come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit the needs of the customers. By using right metal fastener, one can maximize the performance of the machine thereby reducing the repair and maintenance requirement. Metal Fasteners are used in a variety of sectors such as heavy metal industries, oil rigs, oil refineries, gas processing pipelines, etc.

Types of Metal Fasteners:

  1. Rivets: Rivets are permanent mechanical fasteners. It is a smooth cylindrical shaft with head on one end. The end opposite to the head is called buck-tail. Rivets are installed by creating a hole in an object just larger than the rivets. There are different kinds of rivets, and each is used differently depending on the material that is being joined. Rivets are widely used in aircraft, sheet-metal alloys, and tanks, to reinforce jeans and to produce the distinctive sound of sizzle cymbal.
  2. Threaded Fasteners: Threaded Fasteners a discrete piece of hardware that has internal or external threads. They have teeth or threads that cut into the shank to help the fastener to have a better grip. Threaded Fasteners can be reused in a separate material that requires threading. There are different kinds of Threaded Fasteners depending on the type and texture of the threads. Threaded Fasteners are widely used as they are cost efficient and are readily available in the market.
  3. Non-Threaded Fasteners: Non-Threaded Fasteners are the one, which do not have threads. They include pins, clamps, collars, clips, keys, nails and dowels. They are fitted into a groove or hole to hold two or more objects together or to secure them in a place. Stapler is another example of Non-Threaded Fastener which is used to join paper, leather, wood and fabric.
  4. Corrugated Fasteners: It is a thin sheet of strip metal that has a pattern of alternating grooves. While they are relatively thin, the grooved shape of Corrugated Fasteners gives it high level of strength and durability. They are available in a range of sizes, but fall between one and three inches in length. They have one sharp pointed end, and one flat end has been sawed off. They join the sides of the frame and other building projects. They are quick to install more than any other tool.
