Nowadays, buying a house or having a new property is too much expensive. Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, middle-class people face issues in buying or constructing new homes. It is regrettable that a person with a salary range of PKR 30,000 to 80,000 has become unable to buy a home. Although some schemes are working on it, still it is almost impossible for a person with the salary range mentioned above.

The trend of buying residential flats is increasing in Pakistan. Although it is not that much in due to lack of awareness, the interest of people has increased in past few years in Pakistan, especially after the pandemic.

So here we will discuss some advantages and disadvantages of living in a flat as compared to living in a house.

The increasing population has increased the demand for new residential places. Villages have grown into two towns, towns into cities, and cities into Megacities.

New housing societies are being established. The rate of residential land is increasing by leaps and bounds. Not only that, the side effect of new residential land is that the agricultural lands and forests are decreasing. A country like Pakistan cannot afford to lose agricultural land because of its dependencies on agriculture.

Cheaper Rates: Rates of residential apartments and flats are much cheaper. A person can buy it very easily in installments as these are very much affordable to be paid.

Better Security: Normally, it is easy to guard a community living in flats. Mostly residential societies that are living in flats in the same building have security guards. They pay for it at a cheaper rate and hire guards for it. But it is difficult to have guards for houses because every house needs a separate guard.

Better location: It is observed that buying flats in a good location is easier than buying a house as flats are cheaper and houses are expensive.

Better Ventilation: Flats have better ventilation than houses especially if the house is in a congested area.

Space Issue

There is very limited space in a flat. Like a house, there is no courtyard or backyard in an apartment or flat.

Hostile Neighbors: As we know that neighbors in flats are closer in interaction than in a house. So if there are some neighbors that are annoying or something else like that, it may be difficult to survive that kind of situation.

Maintenance Issues: It is difficult to get some maintenance in a flat as it has limitations. In the worst-case like sanitation issues, finding the root of the problem is very difficult because it may affect more than one flat or flour.

Quality of building material: You never know what kind of material is used in the construction of a flat. In case of good luck, the material might be excellent. But if not, it may lead someone to a disaster.
