11 Easy fundraising ideas for kids
Posted: Jul 22, 2022
There could be many reasons for fundraising- buying sports equipment for the school team, funding their tournament expenses, buying classroom supplies, and so on. Fundraising helps your kids learn many soft skills- responsibility, leadership, goal-setting, community engagement, and more.
As a parent, you could help your kids organize one while letting them choose the fundraising ideas for kids. Here are some fundraising ideas you could discuss with your kids-
Car wash- This is a classic way you could get your kids to fundraise. They could ask around the neighborhood for cars that need cleaning and could get it done there and then. The kids could get the soap and other equipment for the fundraiser. Also, ensure you get each parent to sign a waiver form for this fundraising drive.
Donate old shoes- You could get the kids to go door-to-door and ask people to donate their old shoes. Once you have collected a good number of old shoes, give them to a shoe fundraising organization that would weigh them and write you a check based on the quality and quantity of shoes.
Rubber Ducky race- Here, you could get people to buy a rubber ducky and get them to participate in a race. Those who win the race get a small prize. You can do this at school or any place with lots of children.
Used Book sale- You may have many books that have served their purpose; either you have read them or they’re no longer relevant to you. You could get the kids to go across the neighborhood asking for used books. Once you have a good number, you can sell it to a library or online and use the proceeds towards your fundraising goal.
Water balloon/Snowball fight- To add some fun during the extreme heat or cold, you could get kids to team up and have a water balloon or snowball fight. Charge an entry fee for the same and get the kids to join in the fun!
Obstacle course- For some fun, you could rent an inflatable obstacle course or make one yourself and get kids to play on it. Charge a small entry fee and add a race for some extra entertainment!
Restaurant Night – You could partner with a local restaurant that’d be ready to donate a percentage of the sales to your organization. Get the kids to ask their friends and family to participate in the restaurant night. This family fundraising effort can help you reach your fundraising goals easily while providing publicity for the restaurant.
Chores fundraising- You could get the kids to ask their friends and family if they need help with any chores at home. This could be weeding, mowing the lawn, cleaning, or dusting. Get the kids to do the job and let them delegate and be responsible for the work. This is a great fundraising opportunity during holiday time.
Singing telegrams- A perfect fundraiser for a choir, sell singing telegrams to students who want to surprise their friends with a song during class. Once the school administration signs off, set up a table where students can purchase a singing telegram for a person of their choice. Pick a day where choir members can walk from class to class serenading unsuspecting recipients with a fun song.
Craft day- Turn playing hooky into a fundraiser with a craft day. Kids can pay to skip a class or two and participate in a creative project or a field day. Turn the fundraiser into a competition between classes for who can raise the most money.
Host a sports camp- High school athletes can keep the little ones active with a sports camp and raise money for their own teams at the same time. Pick a week or two in the summer where your team athletes can host a camp for the kids, teaching them valuable skills in the sport of their choice. Then, charge parents a small fee to sign their kids up for the camp.
