Are you planning for your next Kolkata to Delhi move, with the packers and movers in Kolkata? That’s great because moves are meant to be executed under professional guidance only. But what is bugging you now? Is it the moving of your delicate items like mirrors and glasses that you have in your home? Well, in that case, we can help you. We know, mirrors are not just delicate, but can be heavy and bigger too. And being an inexperienced person, you may not know the ideal ways of packing it. Furthermore, mishandling of any sort can be a major risk to not just the glass item, but you as well.

So, we have shared some smart and sensible mirror packing tips with you below, that you can follow to pack your mirrors for the move.

Do check them out.

  1. Decide when and where to pack – If you want to handle the mirror packing job at the very beginning or want to pack it last among your entire range of household items, it is completely your choice. But you should have a separate space where you would do it – the packing area. You simply cannot start packing your mirrors in any random space – your bed or couch. The packing area could be your big size dining table, the open floor in your living room, etc. Having a packing zone would simplify your packing task, without disturbing other items around.
  2. Collect all the packing essentials – You’ve never handled fragile items before, so you should be very careful when you pack your mirror. Before you proceed with the mirror packing task, collect – corrugated sheets, packing paper, bubble wraps, fabric sheets, brown paper, moving blankets, stretch wraps, packaging tapes, scissors, name labels, permanent markers, etc. These are the primary items that would help you to easily wrap your fragile glassware item suitably. You can get these materials from any stationery shop in your locality or you can get them sourced at your address by ordering for them online. 3. Opt for an ideal packing method – Since you have decided to pack a mirror by yourself, know the right measures of doing it, otherwise, you will injure yourself or end up breaking the bulging corners of the mirror. Ideally, mirror packing can be efficiently worked out if you perform the entire job on an elevated space rather than on the floors. Now the first thing in the packing process is to safeguard the front with plenty of bubble wraps or a corrugated cardboard sheet. Stick it intact to the corners so nothing moves. Then keep it aside for a while. 4. Seek help or let the experts do it – If you think you cannot pull off the complete mirror packing process by yourself, the reason being it takes too much of your time, effort, and energy, you can either look out for the packing tips from the internet for help or consider seeking professional aid. Mirror packing is a risky job and just like the specialty items in our homes, these items too call for extraordinary handling and care during moves. Moving professionals are equipped with the right tools and materials and they smoothly handle the job without any hassle. 5. Provide the mirror with protection – Just where we left, you should now continue with the mirror packing again. Like the way, you added cardboard pieces to its front, back, and corners, you should now wrap it in bubble sheets or simply use crumpled packing paper or foam sheets to provide ample insulation and guard against external shocks and jerks. Everything should be placed intact and secured using painter’s tape. Mark a big ‘X’ on either side of the mirror using colored tape so that everyone including you knows how to handle it during lifting and moving. 6. Adding that final layer of security – When your mirror/mirrors are wrapped well, make sure to reassess every corner, every space of it. Every inch of the mirror should be covered in a generous coating of packing paper, bubble wraps, and plastic stretch wraps. Once it is done, you should prepare the final moving box. Pick up a customized mirror box or a cardboard box and layer it with thick padding from inside so your mirror remains safer from outside shockwaves. The mirror packing box should be bigger than your actual mirror size so that the extra space around can be filled in using packing peanuts, crumpled brown paper, bubble wraps so that it acts as a cushioning wall. 7. Double-checking the mirror boxes – Make sure when you place the mirror inside the cardboard box, you are careful. Wear gloves so that it gives you a good grip over the object. Once everything is perfectly packed and all the left-out spaces have been covered, cover the box and secure the flaps and corners of the box using heavy-duty packaging tape. Make sure the mirror is fitted inside the box and there is no space left for them to shift. To be completely sure, just hold the box carefully and shake it a little to see if there is any shifting sound. If everything is in place, add the final coat of plastic stretch wrap on top of the box. 8. Labeling the mirror box is a must – You have already marked an ‘X’ on the initial packing but those handling your glass item would see the label marked on the final packaging, i.e. the cardboard box that is carrying your item. Therefore, it should be clearly marked as ‘Fragile’ or ‘Delicate’ or simply with an ‘X’. We would further advise you to add colored labels on top of it, inscribed with the texts – ‘Handle Carefully’ or ‘Handle with Care’ or ‘Fragile Item’ because that would be visible first.

Of all the fragile items that we own, we have a special concern for our gorgeous mirror items that adorns our space. But packing them for the move is not easy. But if you refer to the mirror packing tips shared above and book the movers and packers in Kolkata alongside, you can transport these delicate pieces safely.
