Places like recording studios, classrooms, churches and indoor concert halls share one thing in common and that is soundproofing. For those of you who might be unaware about this, the places mentioned needs sounds and spoken words to be transmitted in a very clear and crisp way if possible.

For this to be accomplished, soundproofing materials should be installed. In classrooms these days that accommodate several students, the lecture of a teacher should be clear and loud so that even those at the back part can still realize the lessons being discussed. This is where the importance of acoustics comes in.

Materials used for soundproofing purposes have modernized. From the cartons or egg trays made from paper used in the past, there are several sophisticated materials available these days for use by discerning builders.

Acoustic materials assist in noise reduction and control and also echo and vibrations in any interior space. This is to accomplish a clear sound that can be heard and understood by people that are listening to prevent noise from entering the room.Sound cancelling foam

  • This is perfect for air seal and sound control in both commercial and residential spaces and is installed in ceilings and walls. It particularly blocks sound sounds coming from the outside and thereby making the interior space a serene place for workers and families. When used in homes, this can also prevent the smell of smoking and cooking from entering the wall cavities.

Made from melamine or polystyrene or polyurethane, different brands of these soundproofing foam panels are available in the market these days. You can get styles just like egg cartons or other textured surfaces.Quilted Fiberglass Absorbers

  • This is an environment-friendly product that makes use of glass mineral wool from silica sand, a naturally occurring mineral. It uses acoustic membrane laminated or acoustic fiberglass absorption in the middle to block sounds from ceilings, walls and floors. It is considered better in respect to the standard cavity, including a lead and normal mineral wool.

Cotton Batting- Excellent for absorbing sound and noise control. A thick type of cotton battling material can tremendously assist in lessening sound in a room. It fulfills another purpose as a thermal insulation. It can be used in soundproofing walls and ceilings also. A better option is the one made from eco-friendly natural cotton fiber which doesn’t have chemical irritants. Most of this cotton batting is made from mostly recycled material and carry out better compared to the standard thermal insulators.

Sound absorbing wall strips and mats- Prevents the transmission of airborne noise and works better than lead. Made from MOL or mass loaded vinyl, this thin mat that have mineral is perfect for use in lightweight walls and flooring notably for domestic projects. For maximum effectiveness, you may use a couple of layers of wooden floors or these mats.
