What do you know about Solar Generators
Posted: Jul 29, 2022
Solar generators are a great way to supply electricity when you are camping or in case of any emergency situations. This system uses solar panels instead of fossil fuels to provide electricity. Portable solar generators are more popular because of their compact size and ease to carry. It uses solar panels to capture the energy of the sun, then stores it in a battery for later use. Portable solar generators are very useful for camping to charge your electrical devices, small appliances, lights, etc.
Solar panels convert sunlight into direct current electricity, which is then passed through the charge controller. The controller regulates the electricity voltage into the battery to store the current for later use. Most solar generators use lithium-ion batteries for storing electricity.
Advantages of Solar Generators:
The following are some advantages of solar generators.
Clean Renewable Energy:
Solar generators don’t release any pollutants when they are producing and storing electricity. They supply only clean energy without harming the outer environment.
Unlimited Fuel:
Solar generators work on the energy from the sun. You can get unlimited energy from the sun free of cost. Solar energy is available at any place. You can simply place the solar panels under direct sunlight and start using the electricity.
Low Maintenance:
The other type of generator uses gallons of gasoline and diesel for generating electricity and it contains various moving parts in operation. They require frequent maintenance for working. But for solar generators, there are no moving parts so the need for maintenance is very less.
Quiet Operation:
Solar generators don’t have any moving parts and roaring engines like fossil fuel generators. The absence of those components significantly reduces the noise of the solar generators while they are running.
Disadvantages:
Although solar generators are having various advantages, they also have some disadvantages too. The following are some disadvantages of solar generators.
Cost:
The operating cost of the solar generators is very low but not the initial cost. Solar generators require a higher initial amount than normal traditional fuel generators.
Weather:
Solar generators need direct sunlight for producing electricity. But sometimes it may be not possible. On a cloudy day, there won’t be enough sunlight available, and it is not efficient to charge the battery. Also, in monsoon time it is hard to get sunlight for a few days as the sky got covered by clouds.
Limited Power Supply:
The power you get from the solar generators is limited because of the size of the battery. Most solar generators have smaller size batteries for easy portability, but they are not enough for giving power to high appliances. Solar generators are used to charge your laptops and mobile phones, and also help to keep running your small appliances for a shorter period of time.
Slow Recharging:
Solar generator batteries can be recharged only when the sun is available. Solar panels take more time to charge the batteries. It will take almost 9 hours to charge the whole battery of a medium size generator with a 100-watt power output solar panel.
Conclusion:
From the above, you can get a clear knowledge about solar generators and their advantages and disadvantages. Solar generators are the best device for generating electricity when you are camping or in any emergency situation.
