Impact of Covid- 19 on Textile Industry in the Last 3 Years In the textile industry, over the years, we have seen a significant change due to the introduction of new technologies. It is by no means easy to adapt to these financial and operational changes, as they have a far-reaching effect on the entire operation, from sourcing raw materials to selling products to wrapping up your business operations. Therefore, there is an increased demand for organizations with higher standards in the quality assurance system and efficiency of production processes. In this article, we will discuss what impact did covid-19 on the textile industry in the last 3 years.

Increase in the Import Cost

The import cost of the textile industry has increased significantly in the last three years. This can be attributed to increased demand for innovation and quality improvement. The combination of these factors leads to a shift in the production process from low-cost countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan to high-cost countries like China, India, and Vietnam.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the demand for innovation and quality improvement in printed muslin fabric. In this regard, it is essential to note that many companies have invested heavily in research and development (R&D) activities related to their products, which has resulted in improved performance levels.

The Decrease in Textile Exports

Textile exports have decreased by almost 50% in the last three years, from $3 billion in 2012 to $1.5 billion in 2017. This decline is attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the textile industry and its consumers worldwide. Several factors: drove the export decline

  1. A reduction in demand for cotton goods due to dampened consumer spending and a decrease in demand for apparel;
  2. The increase in production costs, due to higher raw material prices, higher wage costs, and increased government taxes;
  3. The lack of adequate supplies of raw materials; and
  4. The decrease in production capacity due to the closure of some mills
Decrease the Value Added Tax (VAT) Rate

The Government has reduced the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate from 18% to 15% in the last three years. This has helped lower the prices of textiles and other products, which helped increase their sales.

However, this is not the only way the VAT rate has affected the textile industry. It has also affected the sales of finished goods through different channels like wholesale and retail stores. The lower VAT rate has made purchasing textiles from their local stores more affordable than ordering them online or from other sources such as Amazon India or Flipkart.

The Reopen of the Economy and the Back to Work Process

The textile industry has been affected by a global pandemic in the last three years. The textile industry is one of the most critical industries in our country, not just because it is a job-creating sector but also because it has excellent potential for investment. Therefore, it should promote economic development in this sector.

The reopening of the economy will bring benefits to all sectors of our economy. It can help enhance employment opportunities for workers and entrepreneurs and provide more opportunities for investors to invest in new businesses like.

As a result, we can expect that the textile industry will be able to expand its business scope and create more jobsvlike making, muslin blanket for people who are unemployed or underemployed due to COVID-19.
