Electronic appliances are a need in every household, but the process of choosing the right electronic products for our homes is not an easy one. There are many vendors who supply electronic products on the market and choosing the right vendor is also another critical issue.

That being said, here are some factors you have to consider when buying electrical appliances;

  • Safety of the products

Safety is an important aspect in the process of buying electronics, and to ensure you are buying safe products, you need to find reliable and durable brands. You can also seek information from the vendors to get assurance about the products you are purchasing.

You need to make sure the appliances do not produce any harmful gasses that might cause implications to the health of its users. The other precautionary measure you can take is by trying on the appliances before you make a purchase.

  • Delivery services

It is critical to consider the delivery services being offered by your local electronics vendors. What kind of delivery services do they offer? Some home appliances stand the risk of being damaged while in transit, hence; having them delivered by your vendor reduces the risk of damage. Loading and offloading of big appliances such as fridges, washing machines, Cookers and TV’s may require professionals in order for them to be transported (smoothly).

Some local electronic vendors offer delivery when you shop online, For example, Zambian Online store Radian online is one of the few stores that offer delivery services after purchasing electronic appliances from their online store. To gain more insight click Delivery services and payments.

  • Warranties offered

Appliances cost a lot of money; therefore ensuring you get warranty from your vendor is an important factor to consider when shopping. Machines can randomly break down at any given moment, so it is strongly advisable that you have the benefit of having them fixed by your vendor or better yet get a swap (without spending more).

Make sure you understand thoroughly the terms and conditions of the warranty being offered by your vendor. Reason being that certain appliances may not qualify for warranty services, for example: you can get warranty when you purchase a TV but that does not necessarily mean you can also get a warranty on the remote of that TV. Lastly the duration of warranties on certain appliances may be limited; some go up to half a year, 1 year or 2 years etc.

  • Energy consumption

When purchasing electronic appliances, energy consumption is one factor you really need to consider.

There are new appliances on the market which are invented to use less energy, these appliances are recommended as they offer more benefits to the environment in which they operate in. A good example of these appliances would be fridges, freezers and washing machines with the A+, A++ and A+++ energy rating, these ratings translate into how much energy the appliances consume. This new technology makes them more energy-efficient and offers the benefit of saving costs on energy bills.

Payment plans

An electrical appliance is quite pricey therefore; you need to look for vendors who offer quality payment plans for this commodity. One needs to inquire from their local vendor if they provide services such as hire purchase or lay-by services.

Hire purchase: this is an arrangement made when buying pricey products. The customer makes an initial down payment then the remaining balance is paid in installments with an interest charge (In hire purchase the customer can get the product right after making a down payment).

Lay-by: this payment method means you pay for the product in installments while the vendor keeps it, you can only collect it once you have fully paid off.

The terms and conditions of payment plans offered by vendors vary, so it’s vital that you read the fine print before making a commitment.

  • Space

Last but not least, space: this is one factor you’ll need to consider when buying household electronic appliances. Determine how much space you have in your house to accommodate the newly bought appliances and how well they can fit. It is also advisable to measure doorway (passage) to ensure proper configuration of the appliance to the intended location in the house. In conclusion, consider the length of the cables for power supply connections.
