1. Previously traded corporations:There is no need to file an annual Company Tax Return, profit and loss account, or directors' report if the company has been dormant for the entire fiscal year. However, you must file annual accounts that include the following information:balance sheet stating that the company was dormant during the accounting period, along with the director's signature previous year's figures for comparison certain balance sheet notesUnderstanding the PSC register and the confirmation statementKeep in mind that even if you are not required to prepare full accounts for the company's members, you may still be required to do so.Every year, an annual confirmation statement must be filed.2. Firms that have never traded:If your company hasn't traded since incorporation (or if the only transaction has been the issuance of subscriber shares), filing annual accounts is even easier. All that is required is the submission of form AA02, which requires the following information:company name and phone numbera statement confirming the date and amount of any called-up share capital owed to shareholders by the company, a breakdown of the company's cash and assets, and a record of any shares distributed to shareholders. Each year, you'll also have to provide a confirmation statement.

How do I determine the fiscal year of my company (Accounting Reference Date)? The 'accounting reference date' (ARD) specifies the time period that your company's accounts must cover. It marks the end of a company's fiscal year and occurs on the last day of the month in which the company was formed (making the due date different for each company).
So, if a company was formed on May 18, the ARD will be May 31, the following year. Companies House allows you to set up an email reminder; companies that do so are less likely to miss their due date.
How do I locate a company's registered office address?Accounts can be made up to the ARD or seven days either side of it. The ARD of a company can be found using Companies House Service, or if you are a Quality Company Formations customer, you can login to your account> My Companies> Click on your company name.
Tip: Don't mix up the ARD with your company's annual accounts due-date, which is the deadline for submitting your annual accounts to Companies House. Late filing can result in a fine of up to £1,500.
Is it possible to change my Accounting Reference Date (ARD)?You can change your current or immediately previous accounting reference date, either shortening or extending it, as long as your accounts are not past due. However, you can only extend the ARD for up to 18 months every five years. No matter how many times you slice it, it will still be fine.To do so, a board resolution or meeting minutes documenting the decision to take such action are required. You must also notify Companies House by completing form AA01.
