Understanding the Circuit Designing Process

We are all familiar with the circuit, not the one in the movie Munna Bhai MBBS a rapturous parody set in a medical institution. Our familiarity with circuits lies in the transistors or radios that we encountered when the box was opened for repairs. I remember how transfixed we were with the bizarre circuitry and the repairmen fiddling with embedded metal lines, wires, and transistors on board.

Circuitry as you may have rightly guessed is a layout on board comprising of several components, transistors, diodes, silver or copper wires, and whatnot.

Laymen can barely understand the integrated circuits and what they do. But circuitry is essential to all electrical and electronic devices and their function is that of transmission of current or messages just like the nerves in our bodies do. Slight disruption in these frameworks results in the failure of the devices and IT engineers and electricians are first to check them.

The integrated circuits are complex layouts as pointed out earlier and embedded on the motherboard of computers, mobiles, and other IT devices. Simple designs can be created by one person well literate in the subject but complex layouts required teamwork.

Computer Simulation & Design Automation

The mathematical modeling is performed using computer programs. Simulation is creating a model and then running it using computer programs. This is sort of a prototyping methodology, and the design so obtained predicts the outcome of the final product. Computer simulation has hence become an important tool in engineering for designing complex circuits and testing the layouts before integrating them into the device.

Thus, circuit designers follow a methodical approach using computer simulations to create and test complex designs. In design automation, ECAD, or electronic computer-aided design a group of software used to design electronic systems such as integrated circuits that this article focuses on. Earlier these designs were created manually before the advent of ECAD.

Some of the physical parameters the design should include are: • Weight• size • temperature limits m• resistance to moisture• thermal output• vibration acceleration tolerance

These parameters could be altered as needed. The alterations have to be matched or verified by the client based on the original design. Thus, the circuit should display optimum functionality not more or less.

The Circuit Design Process

Circuit designing is a process that involves several steps. After consultation with the client, the immediate step is to chalk out specifications. The next step is making a schematic diagram that meets the specifications. This is synthesizing on paper (logic synthesis) using a computer program called synthesis tool. The tool is instrumental in electronic design automation an important step wherein the fundamental design is converted into a representation. Simulations are then performed to verify the design. This is usually followed by building a prototype version and several tests are conducted and changes made accordingly to achieve perfection.

Usually, the iterative methodology is applied, and several design boxes are created to test each function or a specific set of functions. These tasks are divided among the team members that work in cohesion at the same time and save time and money. This stage also known as the black box stage is the sum of testing all functions before the final implementation. All permutations and combinations are applied during this stage using research and mathematical modeling. This impacts all the stages and they can be refined or altered as required. This rectification clears the pathway for implementation of the integrated circuit after assuring all the functionalities required.

These are the logical steps circuit designing a web development agency must follow. The IT Company should hire highly qualified staff for the design and development of electronic circuits to meet the project's success.
