  • Wheels: These circular structures are metal hubs that are permanently attached to your BMW's frame. When the tire is mounted on the wheel, the tire contacts the road surface. The wheels are the final part of the powertrain and use the power of the engine to move the car.

How Does the Drivetrain Work?

This is the order in which the powertrain generates and outputs power.

The engine supplies energy to the flywheel. The flywheel works with the transmission to control the power sent to various drivetrain components. A drive shaft connected to the gearbox rotates rapidly to power the differential. A differential then distributes the power from all the driveshaft components, and before you know it, the wheels are spinning, and the car is in motion.
