There used to be a time when paintings were really expensive; these paintings were often something rare and one of a kind but also really simple. Some images like the ‘Starry nights’ by Van Gogh were worth a fortune. We have come into an era where digital art is sold at exorbitant prices. NFTs or Non-Fungible Tokens are art or can be in anything form, visual or audio in the blockchain. So these NFT Marketplaces were considered modern art or art that was one of a kind and couldn't be replicated. Hence this became a big deal.

There are several reasons why NFTs blew up, and there are also reasons why they are investible. These NFTs can not be copied and duplicated, they cannot be faked, and they are exclusive to the owner. This central point allowed these NFTs to become a big deal. These NFTs were hyped because they sold at insane prices that one could only dream of spending. The NFT Marketplace platforms that are mostly sought after are from a reputed NFT artist or are NFTs that are incredibly rare.

So with that being said, a few notable NFTs have been sold for outrageous prices, and more importantly, these NFTs are rare. So rare that you’d strike gold before you find them.

Everyday's- the first 5000 days

This NFT was sold for a record-breaking price of over 69 million dollars. Yes, you didn't get that wrong. This NFT was a collage of 5000 days that the creator Mike Winkleman made for 13 years. It was the result of his long labor of love and effort. The NFT collage contains artistic, personal, scenic, and possibly morbid images compiled onto one large picture. The artist, also known as Beeple, was once selling his prints for $100 and has now made it big. The sale of this NFT has made him one of the world's top 6 most valuable artists.

CLOCK

An NFT that shows the time is literally what this is all about. This NFT sold for 56 million dollars and is just behind that of Beeple. The artist PAK is someone who continues to remain anonymous and calls this art for the people by the people. The entire funds that were gathered through the same NFT would go into helping Julian Assange. Not surprisingly, the FT was bought by a DAO in favour of helping out the owner of Wikileaks. The clock was a timer depicting the time he spent in prison.

Cryptopunk

These are a series of NFTs that look like pixelated street punks hence the name. While these were not as expensive as the others, they all were priced around the average price of 10 million. While it doesn't seem as high as the others, they are incredibly valuable and only seem to be going up in value. The NFTs look like lower-quality Minecraft characters with pixelated bandanas and chains depicting a ruffian. These cryptopunk NFTs are quite collectible as a huge community collects them. Amongst all others, a certain crypto punk with alien skin was the most sought-after one. While not as expensive, it is still highly desirable.

Human One

Yet another NFT by Beeple was sold for 28 million dollars. The image and kinetic video sculpture were sold as one single lot. The NFT speaks a lot for itself, as the image portrayed as the first human to enter the Metaverse. The kinetic video depicts the changes that humans undergo. The NFT alone would have made a fortune by itself, but the image and the video were something out of this world. Once again, Beeple ends up creating a ridiculously priced NFT. While the NFT is incredible, not many could afford it unless it was a DAO.

A coin for the Ferryman

An NFT sold for 6.2 million, and the artist's name was XCOPY. The artist is quite well known for several of his other NFTs sold around the same price range. The NFT looks like the portrait of a gangster-looking man covered in psychedelic colors, and the entire thing pops out. The Ferryman, according to popular Greek mythology, ferried the souls to the underworld, so the depiction of such a morbid scene with such dynamic colors is intriguing.

Conclusion

The NFTs mentioned above are some of the most popular ones sold. Several others are around the same price range and can go anywhere from 1 million to 10 million dollars. Some of these NFTs were sold to support organizations, while a good deal was donated to noble deeds such as saving lives. All that being said, these NFTs will only go up in value, and today's expensive ones will be replaced at some point, or maybe they won't. Only time can answer that.
