History

With the increased usage of Air Cooled Chillers over the last 10 years, solutions are also being worked out to improve efficiency and reduce the operating cost, particularly during high ambient & dry conditions(low RH). For cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, etc. The adiabatic cooling solution has emerged as one of the growing trends in this regard. Over the last decade, there have been few practical issues with this technology, which we are proud to have addressed thanks to feedback from the market. Let’s refresh our memories first and look at the transition.

Working Principle

In an Adiabatic Cooling System, the condenser entry air will be cooled by the direct evaporative cooling method. The reduced entry air temperature improves the efficiency of the chiller and hence reduces power consumption. We have recorded cases of up to 15%* power savings. Evaporative cooling is used to lower the temperature of air by using latent heat of evaporation, changing water to water vapor. In this process, there is the conversion of air sensible heat into latent heat due to which dry bulb temperature drops near to the wet-bulb temperature.

For Example:

Air temperature at 40°C DBT & 24°C WBT, after evaporative cooling, will have dry bulb temperature dropping closer to 24°C with WBT remaining at 24°C.

Climaveneta being one of the pioneers of this technology, felt it was necessary to plug some of the existing practical problems faced with this system, this wouldn’t have been possible without our customer feedback and strong R&D.

Problems Faced Over The Years

(i) Water collection in the chiller plant floor,

(ii) Water sprayed was resulting in long term scale formation on the coils,

(iii) Manual intervention due to complicated operation.

The New & Improved Adiabatic Kit 2.0

  1. Mist System: ensures certified 100% evaporation, no spillage/wastage & a clean plant floor.
  2. Inbuilt RO System with Pumps: to ensure soft water is supplied on coils and no scale formation. Plug & Play!
  3. Automated: no manual intervention needed, with our dedicated outdoor controller, solenoid valve, and robust sensors to ensure the kit works automatically through all conditions.
