Christmas is around the corner and when it hits Australia - everything is upside down. The Christmas party is very different here - it's the peak of the summer and you'll hardly see any snow – at least no natural snow. So, why not get your interior ready for the Xmas celebration? Decorations still play a major role during the festive days and some of the typical elements may be altered in order to fit local climate and traditions better. Here are some wonderful ideas that comply with the Aussie lifestyle.

Australian Symbols

Tired of the inevitable deer and elves? There is an easy solution – Australian fauna is full of fancy animals you can't see elsewhere. So, why not put all of them on the Christmas tree? You can easily find various ornaments that resemble kangaroos, wombats, koalas, echidnas and even emus! And how about Santa dressed in all-red? Again, a great alternative – you will get to see figures of the good old man in a shockingly distinct outfit: on a surfboard, with his shades on... and his shirt off.

Christmas Trees

Big pine tree is a must for every home. But should it necessarily be a natural one? It might be quite hot in the end of December and an artificial tree would often be the better choice, as the air conditioning is probably working in cool mode now. According to one off cleaning experts in Sydney, early wilting of Australian pine trees causes a lot of troubles with room clean-up after Christmas time. And beside the big one, keep in mind little trees are handy for walls and for the main door.

Joyful Lighting

Lights are a unique way to fire up the festive atmosphere at home – both indoors and outdoors. Colourful light garlands can be arranged across all the rooms, or at least in the room which shelters the big tree. In case you want to make the front yard looks special, don't hesitate to hang the longest led light ropes you can find – why not have a glowing house like those in the Hollywood movies?

Required Trinkets

Anyway, Christmas is Christmas. You can't go without some classic decorative elements. Here you may count on all types of snow globes and pine cones, jars, green garlands, paper chains and snowflakes, candles, gloves and small toys. To spice up all of them with some Aussie spirit, just hang a couple of wreaths here and there and, of course, they must be made of traditional red bush.

The Extra Mile

If you dare to go further in the Xmas experience at the end of this year, you might want to explore a few more ideas. How about special bedding – a thick red quilt along with matching pillows? Or maybe an arrangement of stylish white trinkets around the chandelier. You can make a beautiful box for gifts to place under the tree, or you can set up a dedicated all-white nook to resemble a fairy winter scene and impress all of your guests.
