Ireland defeated Scotland by six wickets in Hobart on Wednesday, keeping their Super 12s hopes alive. Michael Jones' first-ever T20 half-century helped Scotland in posting a score of 176/5. However, a 119-run partnership between Campher and Dockrell helped Ireland to win the match.

Jones, Cross 59 run stand

Scotland's innings didn't get off to a good start as Mark Adair removed George Munsey at the start of the game. While Michael Jones was having trouble early in his inning, Matthew Cross kept adding runs from one end. In the third over, he hit three boundaries against Barry McCarthy. After the powerplay, Scotland was 39/1. Again taking McCarthy on, both batters hit a six and a boundary to assist their team over the 50-run mark. Curtis Campher got the wicket of Cross on 28 runs.

Jones, Berrington power Scotland to 176

Jones took his time in the middle, but after the powerplay he began attacking Ireland's bowlers. In the 11th over, Jones pulled Joshua Little for a huge six. In the 13th over, Berrington smacked McCarthy for a boundary and a six. In the 16th over, after scoring his first T20 half-century, Jones whacked Gareth Delany for a six and a four. Campher got the wicket of Berrington on 37 runs. McCarthy conceded 59 runs in his 4 overs as he was smacked for 19 runs in his final over by Jones and Leask.

Scotland strikes with early wickets

Ireland lost both their experienced openers cheaply. Balbirnie was dismissed by Brad Wheal on 14 runs, and Paul Stirling was removed by Safyaan Sharif on 8 runs. After the powerplay, Ireland was 37/2. Ireland lost two back-to-back wickets of Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector.

Campher, Dockrell partnership

Ireland was 65/4 after 10 overs and struggling in the chase, but a 119-run partnership between Dockrell and Campher helped them to win the game. The counterattack began in the 13th over, when Mark Watt was taken for 18 runs. Following that, both batters hit Brad Wheal and scored 14 runs from the 15th over. With 52 required in the final five overs, Josh Davey was smashed for 17 runs in the 16th over. With 12 runs left in the final two overs, Campher struck three consecutive boundaries to help Ireland reach the target with one over remaining. Curtis Campher scored 72 runs in 32 balls, while George Dockrell scored 39 runs in 27 balls.
