Largest Nuclear Power Plant In The World: In light of French President Emmanuel Macron’s scheduled visit to India in 2023, there has been a renewed push to advance construction of the 1,650 MW nuclear power reactors in Jaitapur in Maharashtra.

Jaitapur Nuclear Power Plant: Jaitapur is located in the Ratnagiri region of Maharashtra, and the parties met to explore how to expedite the construction of the nuclear power reactors there.

Nuclear Power Plant In Jaitapur: The French delegation was led by the Minister of State for Development whose name is Cherysoula Zacharopoulou. According to French Minister Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Macron will travel to India in "early 2023."

"The French company EDF last year submitted to Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd it is bidding techno-commercial offer to build six European Pressurised Reactors (APRs) at Jaitpur," the official statement stated.

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Science and Technology and Space and Atomic Energy, Dr. Jitendra Singh, met with a French delegation on October 18 to discuss "ways to speed up the setting up of the nuclear power reactors".

Nuclear Power Reactors In India: According to a news release from India’s Department of Atomic Energy, the discussions were also attended by French Ambassador to India Emmanuel Lenain and other French officials, such as nuclear counsellor Thomas Mieusset.

Jitendra Singh Minister: Singh told the French minister that the technical, financial, and civil nuclear liability issues surrounding the Jaitapur project will be handled as soon as possible, well in advance of Macron’s planned visit.

According to our sources, NPCIL, as the owner and future operator of these facilities, would be responsible for the construction and commissioning of units, as well as getting all essential permits and approval in India.

Largest Nuclear Power Station In India: In May of this year, a high-level EDF delegation travelled to India for in-depth talks with NPCIL officials.
