Preventive CareProphylaxis (Dental Cleanings)

Prophylaxis is a cleaning performed by a trained dental hygienist to thoroughly clean your gums and and teeth. At Needham Dental, our hygiene program is the foundation of our comprehensive dental care program. Sealants

Dental sealant is a thin plastic coating applied on the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent tooth decay. The sealant bonds into the grooves of the teeth, forming a protective shield over the enamel of each tooth. It protects tooth decay by "sealing out" plaque and food in younger kids who are cavity prone, between the ages 6–14 years of age. Sealants are also recommended to adults with deep grooves on the biting surfaces of their back teeth.
