Some ideas sellers and buyers

The biggest problem I see is the sellers thinking they can ask and will get near retail for their used stuff on here (or anywhere).

I don't know if it's greed, need or just ignorance, but many seem to lack any understanding of marketing.

What do you want web to do about that? How are they the cause of "slow sales" in a free market where sellers are welcome to ask whatever crack head price they want for items?

I'd love to buy more things from online, but more and more I find myself hitting garage sales and even store sales for better prices. Buyers are encouraged to flag any listings that do not comply with these requirements

People who are shopping for very low dollar items are NOT going to buy a high dollar item just because they ran across it in their search. They generally have a price limit in mind, so if they need a $10 item, forcing them to search through items over $100 is moot. So, I thought about this and thought about this, was coming up with nothing until today, when it hit me... Why not break down the furniture section into price levels? Say, items under $10, items under $50, items under $100, and items OVER $100? That way, I hardly think that a dealer with a $200 item is going to list it with the items under $10. Sure, he can still lie about the price in the heading, but at least we'll all know the items is NOT $1, or even $10.

People who are shopping for higher dollar items are NOT going to settle for a $10 item. Again, they probably want an item with a price point beyond what they would find in the low dollar sections. They will search for items in the higher price sections. Why make buyers wanting better quality items sift through cheap items they have no interest in?

As for resellers, they will always be there. They will scour everything, looking for a good deal, whether it's $1 or $100 or $1000. The aim should be to make a better experience for the average buyer or seller.

When sellers learn how to sell, their "inventory" will go away. Until then, I guess they keep reposting the same tired stuff and the same prices and keep dusting it while it sits on their shelf.
