To open or close a gate valve, an electric gate valve actuator moves linearly utilizing electric voltage and signal control. By using electric gate valves, you can achieve remote control, reduce labor costs, and improve production efficiency.

An electric gate valve is one of the most commonly used cut-off valves, mainly used to connect or cut off the medium in the pipeline, not suitable for adjusting the flow of the medium. The gate valve is suitable for a wide range of pressure, temperature, and caliber, especially suitable for medium and large-diameter pipelines.

Water, oil, cement, paper pulp, and other media can be handled by electric gate valves, and they are widely used in areas such as paper and pulp, power plants, shipyards, wastewater treatment, and so on.

Electric Gate Valve Advantages

Fluid resistance is low. When the medium flows through the gate valve, the flow direction does not change because the opening and closing are labor-saving. During opening and closing, the gate moves perpendicular to the direction of the medium flow. Gate valves require less labor to open and close than stop valves.

There is generally no restriction on the flow direction of the medium. The medium can flow in any direction from either side of the gate valve, and both can switch on and off. Simple to install, suitable for pipelines where the flow direction may change.

The Structure Of The Gate Valve

Depending on the stem structure and mode of movement, gate valves can be classified as rising stem gate valves or non-rising stem gate valves.

The stem of a rising stem gate valve drives the gate up and down together, and the drive thread is outside the valve body. Accordingly, the opening and closing of the gate, as well as the position of the gate can be intuitively judged by the direction and position of the valve stem, and it is convenient to lubricate the drive thread, but it requires a larger installation area since fluids do not corrode it.

The driving thread of a non-rising stem gate valve is located inside the valve body. In the process of opening and closing, the valve stem rotates only, while the gate moves up and down in the valve body. The valve, therefore, has a small height dimension. A non-rising stem valve gate is usually equipped with an opening and closing position indicator above the valve cover, making it suitable for ships, trenches, and other dusty environments.

According to the structure of the gate, gate valves can also be divided into wedge and parallel types.

Single wedge gates, flexible single gates, and double wedge gates can all be divided into rigid, flexible, and double wedge gates.

A wedge-type rigid single gate has a simple structure, a small size, and is reliable to operate. Although the wedge angle has a relatively high processing and matching accuracy, it is prone to clamping and scratching. Suitable for gate valves with various media and pressures at room temperature and medium temperature.

To achieve a good seal, the wedge-type elastic single gate relies on the compensation effect created by the slight elastic deformation of the gate, temperature changes are difficult to cause wedging, and wedge angle accuracy is low. Nevertheless, if the closing torque is too large and the ram loses its elasticity, it should be avoided. Gate valves of various temperatures and pressures can be fitted with this valve.

Wedge-type double gates have low processing accuracy requirements for the wedge angle of the sealing surface, are easy to seal, and are not easily damaged by temperature changes. After the sealing surface wears out, it is easy to maintain. Despite this, the structure is more complicated, the parts are more numerous, and the valve is larger and heavier.

A parallel single gate has a simple structure and cannot achieve forced sealing by itself. Generally, soft seals are fixed or floating to ensure their sealing performance. There are medium and low pressures, large and medium diameters, and oil or gas or natural gas can be used as a medium.

A parallel double gate generally generates sealing force through the top wedge, and the relative movement between the sealing surfaces is small, making it difficult to scratch. These valves are commonly used for low-pressure, medium-pressure, and small-diameter gates.
