Different Job Profiles in Network Administration

Network Administration Jobs are touted as one of the most popular and satisfying jobs for youngsters. It is one of the newest career options that have come out in recent years. Some people believe that due to a severe shortage of experienced and skilled people in this field, the job opportunities are on a great high and there are significant chances of landing at a good position in a fast growing company. However, jobs in Network Administration involve a lot of hard work and there is a lot of competition for high positions. The Network Administration is divided in different positions. Some of them are mentioned below.
Network Administrator- This person is responsible for investigation, installation and arrangement of company networks. His duty is to monitor network performance, troubleshooting errors and upholding network security. He has to provide support to customers on operating system and network adapters, switches, firewalls and verifying third party tools.
Network Systems Engineer- The work profile of a network systems engineer is considered to be similar to that of network Administrator by some companies. However, some of them consider them different, as administrators are more responsible for day to day supervision of networks, while on the other hand, network engineers focus mainly on system upgrades, evaluating vendor products and security testing.
Network Technician- Network Technician focuses mainly on the setup, troubleshooting and repair of specific hardware and software products. Network technicians also have to travel to different customer locations to execute field upgrades and trouble rectifications. Again, some companies consider technicians, engineers or administrators as same job profiles.
Network Programmer/Analyst- A network programmer, usually has to write software programs or scripts that aid in network study, such as diagnostics or monitoring needs. The profile of network programmer also involves assessing third party products and merging new software technologies with present network settings, or to build a completely new background.
Network/Information Systems Manager- This profile involves management of the work of administrators, engineers, technicians and programmers. The person also carries on long term planning and approach considerations.
There are many different job profiles related to Network Administration. In order to land in a good company, one needs to have required knowledge about IT and computer hardware. Jobs can be easily found, as there is generally a shortage of good candidates in this field.
