A day after Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid called The Kashmir Files a propaganda film, its director Vivek Agnihotri spoke in a social media post. He said that truth is the most dangerous thing because it can make people liars.

Before Vivek Agnihotri, Anupam Kher also said on Tuesday that truth will always win over untruth. Significantly, the jury chief of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa and Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid on Monday called the Hindi film 'The Kashmir Files' as a 'propaganda' and 'obscene' film.

Vivek Agnihotri has written and directed the film.

The Kashmir Files chronicles the aftermath of the killing of Kashmiri Pandits by Pakistan-backed terrorists. The film, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, was released on March 11, 2022. It was part of the 'Indian Panorama section' of IFFI and was screened there on 22 November. The film earned Rs 330 crore at the box office.

Controversial statement on 53rd IFFI

IFFI jury chief Nadav Lapid termed 'The Kashmir Files' as an indecent and propaganda film at the conclusion of the 53rd film festival celebrations held in Goa. He said, 'I am surprised to see such a film in such a film festival.' After his statement went viral, a controversy has arisen over it. Film actor Anupam Kher has given a strong reaction to this statement. By tweeting, the head of the jury targeted the Israeli film maker Lapid. At the same time, film maker Ashok Pandit called it an insult to Kashmiris.

Anupam Kher's counterattack

Anupam Kher, who played a major role in 'The Kashmir Files', has condemned the statement of Nadav Lapid. He tweeted and wrote- 'No matter how high the stature of a lie is.. it is always small in comparison to the truth..'. Not only this, the actor told the media- 'We will answer properly to the jury head and Israeli film maker Nadav Lapid. If the Jewish genocide is right then the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits is right. It is shameful for him to make such a statement.

Anupam Kher said that the truth of 'Kashmir files' is stuck like a thorn in the throat of some people. He is neither able to swallow it nor spit it out.
