We all make mistakes, and it’s not a big deal because everyone tends to make mistakes, as mistakes are a part and parcel of our lives. If we didn’t make mistakes, we’d never learn anything. But if you’re worried about bouncing back, or find yourself only paying attention to the things that go wrong, there are ways by which the mistakes can always be undone and ways to come over the same. Mistakes work as a teacher. Now moving forward comes a common mistake that students make while choosing the future of their educational journey. In the journey of education, students read, write, and gives exams to pass out for an upper level. This journey goes smoothly till the 10th Standard and then the real stories began. After the completion of Matriculation, the stream is divided into 3 ways. Science/Commerce/Arts and those courses lead you up to college graduation and post-graduation. Usually, students get confused between here streams and finally go for anyone. In the middle of pursuing, students find difficulty in choosing the wrong stream that he or she has chosen. This usually happens to a few students every year.

SFS Guwahati provides excellent guidance before choosing the right stream for them. Therefore, don’t get panic about it. The school plays an excellent role as a mentor in student life.

Let’s discuss some effects and remedies for choosing the wrong stream. This article will provide a positive impact on the future of students and will let students help to avoid common mistakes students make while choosing streams in class XI.

  1. Lack of Proper Guidance — It is indeed a very common mistake that costs the future of a child. Due to the lack of proper guidance, many students go into the wrong stream and later either keep regretting for life or they are not able to score well in their examinations. Students pretty much get misguided by so-called seniors and by their parents because they all try to push their fads on students. Because of that, students are never able to decide what they want to do with themselves and start taking pressure simply because they don’t have any idea about how to deal with these so-called wishes of the parents. Moreover, they never get to choose according to their own will. Even the subjects they choose in class 11 are suggested by someone else in most cases. To avoid this mistake, the students can opt for a career counseling as many such options are available today.
  2. Unstable decisions — many students fall prey to unstable decisions where they are not able to take the decisions that are best for them. They are not able to figure out which stream they are best suited for and thus due to many reasons like this they end up choosing the wrong stream for them. They then later after doing a week’s class, decide that they do not like or are not interested in that certain stream and want to change it. Thus, it is kind of a robust process and wastes a lot of time and even puts pressure on the student’s mind. Thus, a career comes in danger. The foremost factor that plays a pivotal role in deciding your subject stream is how aware you are about your own interests and desired aims. Identifying your interest in the subject and analysing your aptitude skills are highly essential in order to land up with the subject stream appropriate for you. Do not be influenced by what your friends are pursuing or what your parents want you to choose. After all, it’s you who have to study and work on that subject and you will excel only when you find interest in studying. Choosing a stream under the external influence will only take you to the wrong path & taking a backward step will be a very difficult call at a later stage. Everyone has his/her unique set of interests and you must follow yours. That is why they can research and learn what other options are available.
3. Goal Setting- As you know, we start with big goals like becoming a pilot or even becoming a scientist, which later on with time, end up seeking any job. Why does this happen to students? This happened because of our education system and its policies. Back then, our education system was not so flexible, because education system is so concrete. Students don’t know how to deal with stuff and achieve what they aspire to achieve. In the same way, only 50% of students who have supportive families are able to chase their dreams, while the rest just compromise with their dreams and drop the idea of chasing their goals. There are so many reasons behind it; sometimes it’s for family reasons, sometimes for personal reasons, and many times it’s only because of self-created problems due to lack of info and not having a proper idea of what to do or what not to do. It’s hard to make 100% accurate decisions because you never know what life is going to throw at you, but when you have a good amount of information, you can make better decisions, plus it will also keep your focus on your goal. Furthermore, goal shifting happens because you never decide your goal according to yourself.
