How To Get Into Acting are performers who work across different media, such as theatre, television, and film. Some professional actors also are voice over artists for animation pictures, act in commercials and record audiobooks. Their acting skills must effectively communicate the character and the story of the film to an audience, using their voice, body, actions, and reactions. The best actors in India tell stories, give out emotional reactions to their audiences and keep the story going.

This industry is a cut-throat industry, to thrive and be successful one needs to rehearse, learn the lines, rehearse, and then rehearse some more because practice makes perfect! Along with being a cut-throat industry,It is a very tough, competitive, and taxing profession, which requires lots and lots of hard work.

They must rehearse for their roles, sometimes even take speech and acting classes for certain roles, conduct independent and extensive research for the character that they’re playing. Very famous actors are required to promote the productions by giving interviews to the press and television appearances.

How To Become?

There is no strict path that needs to be followed to become a professional male/female actor in India. But there are certain things one can follow -

  • Join the theatre club in school –

Participating in high school plays and musicals will help you to understand the culture. Drama or theatre classes/workshops will introduce you to performing, understanding the different methods of acting, writing material, and different ways to portray characters, along with stage and costume design.

  • Get educated –

It is not mandatory to get a formal education to succeed as a professional actor or actress, but you can try and go to a formal college or university drama degree program. The education will not only hone skills but will help aspiring actors understand what happens behind the scenes, such as contracts and business dealings.

  • Practice makes perfect –

Give auditions and work as much as possible in the acting world. Attend workshops and become a part of your local or small theatre companies for practicing and learning new skills. Sometimes, they also provide networking opportunities available.

  • Make an acting portfolio/resume –

Try and act in as many roles as possible. Build up a portfolio or a resumé with a variety of performances and roles, such as theatre productions, commercials, working as an extra, music videos.
