Posted: Dec 30, 2022
Ayurveda is the best way to keep yourself healthy and warm in winter season. Most of people don’t like winter as they consider it to be a season of cold, flu, and other diseases. Ayurveda helps in strengthening your immunity which fluctuates with changes in seasons and planetary cycles. Winter is a good time to build your immunity and keep you healthy. As a result, people feel more hungry and digest more which nourishes their bodies.
Many factors affect the balance of the doshas, for example, our daily routine, diet, and the seasons. The tips presented here are to help you maintain your inner balance.
Follow Ayurvedic Daily Routine
In winter, for healthy individuals, metabolism and vigour are stronger than in other seasons. Therefore, you can physically do a little more now. Ayurveda suggests waking up a bit later in the winter than you would in other seasons.
Besides taking adequate sleep, regular practice of transcendental meditation is a key to deep inner regeneration and relaxation. A regular daily routine without stress supports the balance of the three doshas. It produces a significant improvement in physical and mental well-being.
What to Eat and Drink
Cold weather increases digestive power, or Agni, which is usually stronger in winter than in other seasons. Therefore, you can eat a little more, and slightly rich food. Include bread, butter milk, cottage cheese, steamed vegetables, warm soup cooked with ghee, and spicy food into your meals.
Eat more protein - beans, tofu, eggs, chicken, turkey, and fish. Drinking lukewarm water and milk with turmeric which really improves your immunity and keep you warm. It is recommended to reduce or avoid frozen foods, as well as foods that are cold, damp, or excessively sweet, heavy, or oily.
Do Pranayamas
Doing some of the most important pranayamas really help you to keep yourself fit and warm. You can try some important pranayamas such as Kapalbhati, Bhramari, Anulom-vilom, Ujjayi, Bhastrika, etc. Do these Yogas every day in the morning before having breakfast. Void to drink cold water. Take proper sleep of 7-8 hours as it helps to keep your digestive system healthy.
Apart from these pranayams, you should walk minimum 3 to 4 km daily in the morning which can help you to get rid of joints pain. During the winter season, many people often suffer from joints pain because of not walking much as it requires.
