What are the Different Types of Flood Lights?

Flood lights are the type of lights that can be used mostly outdoors because of producing a high-intensity broad beam. These types of light systems are used in driveways, parking lots, playgrounds, patios, etc. Flood lights are the artificial form of light with a broad beam. Most of the sports grounds have these lights installed because they give better visibility to the players and are also beneficial for television broadcasts. In this article, we are going to discuss the different types of flood lights.

LED Flood Lights:

Flood lights use Light Emitting Diodes in order to illuminate light for a large area with wide-angle focus. This type of LED light is increasingly popular because of its efficiency, variety of shapes, and purposes. Nowadays, you can find many LED flood light manufacturers and you need to choose the best one for your light supply.

The main advantage of LED flood lights is that they are cheaper in the long run than other conventional lights. Also, they are more energy efficient, which consumes energy about 70 to 80% more than regular ones. The initial cost of this type of flood light is higher than the halogen type. But it helps you to save money by using less electricity and lasts for a longer period of time.

Halogen Flood Lights:

Halogen bulb flood lights were the bestselling light type for the outdoors until LEDs appeared. This type of light uses halogen bulbs, which offer fewer advantages over incandescent bulbs. They can be used with motion sensors because they are instantly switched on. They are less expensive than LED flood lights and also have a shorter life span. These lights deliver excellent color rendering and bright lighting that can be compared to the sunlight on a sunny day. When compared to LED flood lights, this type is less energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

Fluorescent Flood Lights:

Most people use fluorescent lighting at their office, school, or in their business because of its higher energy efficiency. Fluorescent flood lights don’t produce any heat when producing light and it is efficient in maintaining a cool temperature in the room. They have a longer life span than an incandescent bulb and can last long for about 10000 hours. These types of lights are not dimmable they are having a little amount of mercury liquid inside of them, which turns into a mercury vapor when it is turned on.

Incandescent Flood Lights:

Incandescent flood lights are the sources of electric light that work through incandescence that occurs when the filament is heated. This type of light contains a tungsten filament present inside the glass enclosure and the electric current flows during the filament’s heating process in order to produce light. Incandescent flood lights are easy to install, and it is available in different shapes and sizes. It allows the users to dim and control the light. When compared to fluorescent and halogen lights, this type of light process warmer colors.

Conclusion:

From the above, you can get a piece of detailed knowledge about some of the different types of flood lights. Among that, LED flood lights are more suitable for outdoors than CFLs and halogen types. These types of bulbs are more durable, have a longer lifespan, more energy efficient, and are environmentally friendly than other types.
