Hotmail was founded by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith in the year 1996. It was bought by Microsoft for $400 million and was relaunched as MSN Hotmail in the year 1997. Microsoft was phased out and was relaunched as Outlook.Com in October 2012. The webmail service was then followed by Rocket Mail which became Yahoo Mail later on. The free webmail could accord access to inboxes from anywhere in the world. Though still known as Hotmail a popular name the service has become Outlook officially.
